I hope to try la fée verte soon. Mostly out of historical interest (art history being one of my passions). But I'll go to a bar that serves it in the proper French method (never light the sugar on fire), rather than paying $65 or more for a bottle plus all the proper apparatus. If you have netflix instant view there's a decent documentary about the history of the drink that has recently been added.

Sweet! Yeah, if I knew of a bar around that would be a better way to taste test um.

Yeah, it does have a liquorice flavor. Not sure about the fire. Maybe it wasn't diluted enough--the stuff's like 130 proof and is made to be diluted. Did they light the sugar on fire?

Yeah, they lit the sugar cube on fire then mixed it in the shot. I think I'll just stick to the simpler things like whiskey, wine, and beer.

Gord, what do you pay for 7 Seas? I have to admit, I like the blue pouch better then the white, which one do you like best?

Around $30. I have only smoked the white, but I imagine I would like the blue better as 7 seas is very similar to Captain Blacks and their blue is better then their white.

The blue still has the same pastry, super sugary aroma from the pouch, the room note is less like Captain Black though. It's not unpleasant at all just not as strong. It is mild in taste as well. I think I'll get some English blends next time out.

Yeah. Not sure why. That's at the local store. It may be priced better if I go to the tobacco shop, but when I go there I prefer to get something from their bulk tobacco.

The English is something else. It can clear a room with it's scent but sure is a nice smoke.

After I smoked Ashton Artisans Blend, loved the perique by the way, I had to lay down. For me...it had too much vitamin N.

Got this pipe for my birthday (I ordered it and thanked my wife). It's a pipe from Mr. Brogg in Poland. Total cost was just under $30. Made of pear wood, hand carved and smokes great. The first smoke had a slight funk to it but its gone now.

Bought a few cans of Growers 1927 handcrafted cider. It's a nice dry cider, smells like green Jolly Ranchers, it's dry (did I write that already) and good on a hot evening.

I picked up a pack of Monte Cristo cubans from the baccy shop. They are smaller then the standard Monte Cristo and come in a 6 pack. They have a VERY distinct flavor. I think I like them.

I smoked a bowl Friday at our book club meeting. We were reading Augustine on the Trinity. A pipe and Augustine go well together.

Was this meeting indoors? I always wanted to smoke my pipe inside with others smoking. Does the whole crew at your meeting smoke? Sounds like a good time!

We got together at a local park over looking a river and only one fella restrained from enjoying tobacco. I prefer smoking outdoors when its nice. The smell of some baccy can be unpleasant.

Next meeting I'll bring along a Punch cigar.

I feel the same way. It turns out though that it's really quite tasty stuff. Great for an after dinner sipper.

Ahh, sweet tobacco. Sadly, I can't smoke anything or I know I'd start smoking cigarettes again. I know me and my past addiction. But praise God for those who can enjoy it responsibly (and for the second hand sniff that I can enjoy!).

But for me, it looks like I'll be trying to finish more of this sucker tonight. It's not so tasty and I don't think I'd buy it again. But maybe after airing out a bit, the flavor will improve. Hopefully....

I agree about the temp. Been to hot to enjoy a pipe on the back deck most nights, but the last few have been perfect. I am more of a Fall person then Summer. Was never one to enjoy the heat.

Walnut Brown Sherry, unbelievable! I visited my local LCBO (in Ontario liquor is sold by a government controlled agency) and the sales lady, who has come to know me well, mentioned this bottle to me. she took me in the back room and gave me a sample...I had to buy a bottle. Excellent stuff and pricey at $14 bucks a bottle, considering I normally pay $9, but it is only released a few times a year.
