  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My older brother's friend also had his 360 destroy his game...
Anyway, I want a 360 with my ps3, I just thought putting ps3 in the same place with 360 was kind of stupid (no offence intended).
That's not to say they're all (or even most are) like that. I've had mine since release and it's given me no troubles at all.

Maybe, but have you been hearing of Ps3's over heating so bad that people can fry eggs over them? Have you heard of ps3's that destroy games? Have you heard of the three red lights of death going off (ps3 version of course). The fact is everyone knows that 360 messed up way more at launch than ps3 has, unless they're fanboys? Anyway, I think arguing over a game consol is kind of stupid, friends?

Hate to say it but its too early to know if the PS3 launched a worse quality product than the 360 back in 05. So far though, I've not had problems with mine. In a message board of over 100k people, I've only heard of one PS3 not working right (blu-ray player not reading) and one case of crappy controller.

But interesting note... I heard about games going awry and being eaten by the hungry DVD9 player a week after launch. Hrm....

Unless that was a gaming board you were talking about, I'd be willing to bet a good part of the blame for the disparity lies with the fact that very few people own PS3s right now, while the 360 launch was much more substantial in terms of units available.

There was just about the same amount from PS3 to 360s. Let's see what the total is when the holidays is over. Btw, it wasn't a gaming board.

Excuse me mr pc fanboy, those pc systems cost more than PS3.
And they aren't even as strong, nor do they have the blue ray.

Now go get a life, I hear they are on sale at walmart.

Hey, im sorry guys but I think Ravendta has a very good point. I gotta agree. And he wasn`t mentioning anything about pc games being better than the Ps3. (Although I do think so when it comes to first person shooter games.)

Seriously, we completely forgot what game systems are for. They are to play games! And that’s it! It’s sad how Sony and Microsoft try to literally cram all the newest technology into a video game console.

Anyways, my point is that I want a GAME system to play GAMES. I don’t want it for the DVD player, or blu-ray, or to watch pictures on a screen. The main purpose of it is just to play good games.

Which leaves me to the next point. So many people has disrespected the Nintendo Gamecube as junk (or whatever other word describing it) because it doesn`t have the “cool” stuff that the xbox or Playstation had. Yeah it lacked a couple features but did those people ever realize that the Nintendo gamecube is a very powerful console too? If you kinda think of it, it is. How can such a small video game system have the same attributes as the PS2 or the xbox? You can literally compare.

Anyways, I need to agree with Ravendta:amen: . It is just sad how these two major companies think of a great video game system.

There is a lot of problems with the PS3, and xbox 360. Yes, blue ray is an excellent concept, but its so freakin expensive. But what is the point of having blu-ray if it distorts some televisions that are not compatible. I thought Sony and Microsoft were focused on us, the common people, and not the Rich and Famous.

Why am I paying an arm and a leg for some technology that I can get in a PC? Some people say that the systems are excedding pcs, but I think not. Compare a ps3 or a 360 to an alienware, or a voodoo pc and there is no comparison.

Seriously guys, it’s just a game system. Nothing more, nothing less. So maybe he was a little too direct saying that, but its true. We need to remember the days of buying a game to play so we ca nfave fun. I think that keeping it barebones is what makes a game very fun. Adios! Any comments welcome of course!  ;)

I agree to a point. I do like new technology, and I think Blu-Ray is a good idea...it's just not standardized in the market like DVDs are right now. If (when?) Blu-Ray becomes the retail video format of choice, PS3 would become a lot more popular.

I think a lot of the stuff they put in the PS3 is sweet, though. No disc tray, touch-sensitive buttons, rechargeable STANDARD wireless controllers (without paying extra for battery packs and chargers)...

I remember Microsoft saying "teh 360 will be toly wireless oh man and no memry crds ither holy cow!1!1!!". Then I open the 360 and see...a wired controller and memory card. "But wait," Microsoft says. "It's not a memory card; it's a memory unit."

Well, to be fair a lot of people purchased the Premium units and never had to look at either a wired controller or a memory unit. The 360 can potentially be completely wireless and can potentially be fully capable without need for a memory card.

Be quiet. You're ruining my rant. :p

Though Sony at least delivered on Microsoft's promise. Both of their models have hard drives (which can be swapped out for compatible laptop hard drives, btw), and a wireless controller which recharges by plugging it into the system itself. Handy. From that standpoint, PS3 is superior.

On everything else...we'll just have to see.
