  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Proverbs 15:17

Sorry if this has been posted before?

I just found this kind of... funny actually! I've gradually become a vegetarian; mainly because of my compassion for animals. Anyway, lately I've been thinking about going all the way, and officially becoming a veggie. My nutrition has been a total mess, so I thought maybe it could actually be a good thing, helping me to be healthier.

I had no idea, never heard this or read this - Proverbs 15:17, but that's what God showed me when I was randomly reading the Bible yesterday!

Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a fatted calf with hatred!

:)

I'm officially a veggie now!

Just thought I'd share,
Eveline :)

I hate to break this to you but that verse is not necessarily promoting vegetarinism. It's stating that a simple meal eaten with friends and in good fellowship is better than a feast eaten under the cloud of hatred.

It's fine by me if you want to be a vegetarian but this verse does not necessarily support this idea.

I agree w/ you totally Knight...

However I am a vegan and the reasons that I am is because of the hormones and chemicals that are pumped into todays meat.... these are my reasons... you ever look at kids today? Bigger ? definately...... when they eat hormone injected meat then that is passed onto them... I love meat.... but I choose not to eat it because of the health issues.. if I were to raise a cow myself ... or kill a deer in the wild (which wont happen) I would eat it... gladly .

just my 2 cents.

btw nice to meet you all and I will not be trashing meat alll over these forums ... as a matter of fact I am trained as a chef and have alot of recipes that I would love to share... meat and no meat alike :)

There are a lot of factors that go into the enlargement of youths today. Things like the fat they consume (I've never heard your theory about the hormone injected meat. You'd have to prove to me that that is specifically contributing to this.)

There's also the distinct lack of exercise kids today get due to too much time spend watching TV or playing video games.

BTW: I look forward to seeing some of your recipes.

I've got plenty to read thanks.

I just think you're going to have a hard time establishing a link between child obesity and hormone injected meat. There's just too many other factors to consider.

I never said obesity... actually I meant more the young girls.... like young teenageand even earlier..... very mature for there age (please dont take that the wrong way... i am speaking of my daughter )

I definately do not care to debate this issue.. as I am not well read on the subject... I only made this choice for me and like I said I am not going to preach against the big bad meat companies and that kind of stuff... I just thought if u were interested that you might wanna read that book.. I have read it and learned a lot from it.

It sounded like you were talking about Obesity since you mentioned the health concerns. Don't worry about me taking that the wrong way. I understand what you mean but that is likely more genetic than dietary. (My wife "bloomed" early but she inherited that from her grandmother.)

Sorry, I don't mean to come on so strong. My wife has her masters in Health Science so I know a little about this issue.

I have a weakness for red meat, I'll admit it, but I just try to stay away from evil brands like Tyson.

I also wanted to add that part of the "maturing" due to hormones is currently a reason young girls (as young as ten) are able to become pregnant. In Oklahoma this year over 100 girls under age 10 will become pregnant. Just FYI.

Two questions:

1) I didn't know that Tyson produced red meat. The only thing I've ever seen of their's is chicken.

2) I'm going to open a power keg by asking this, but........
What's so evil about Tyson?

Knight,
I am aware that Tyson produces mainly white meat. But they often raise their animals in small cages, often not feeding them and just spraying hormones on them until they are big enough to cut up and sell. They also undermine family farmers and do not take care of their waste appropriately, and leave it to the taxpayers to take care of. :(
