There is no certain proof that December 25th is absolutely the day that Jesus was born. That's just when most in the west chooses to celebrate His birth.
There is more at stake here than stores not using the word "Christmas" in their advertizing, It's the cuture war here in the US and the undermining of Christianity in the past decade or so.
Let's look back, maybe twenty years ago, sitting in my living room watching TV Christmas day. FOX which was channel 5 back then would air a special commercial once every hour or so.
The piece showed a distant shot of a crucifix with dramatic lighting and music. Slowly the camera would zoom in on the Crucified while a narration of the poem "One Solitary Life" was broadcast.
I think if a commercial like that came on TV today I would faint!
My! How far we have fallen!
I don't know if you've been watching the tube lately but everyone is quick to wish the viewers a "Happy Channukah! Happy Kwanza!" But Merry Christmas...Huh?
You know what I say to all this"we are the world" stuff?
No Jesus, no peace! Know Jesus, know peace!
Christmas my friend means Christ's mass ~ the celebration of Christ. What's wrong with that?
