So is this thread suppose to be for things like... if i said there was going to be an earthquake tomorrow in California, that there will be?

I don't believe that predictive prophecies about disasters in the world, especially in California fit in with Paul's teaching on New Testament prophecy. Actually, many scientists can predict earthquakes in California. It is not a matter of if but when for that region.

But I am so opposed to predictive prophecies like the example you quoted, that if Jesus Himself came and stood before me and told me that there was going to be an earthquake in California tomorrow, I would still ask Him for His I.D., and to show me in the New Testament where a prophecy like that is supported in its teaching.

Amen!

(Though actually, if Jesus told me , I think I would probably accept it!)

Yes, there is a lot of controversy about predictive prophecy. Nevertheless, predictive prophecy is scriptural, in both the Old and New Testaments. Many of Israel's prophets, for example Jeremiah, predicted Israel's demise because of sin and disobedience. They were spat upon, persecuted, and, in Jeremiah's case, thrown into a pit. But they were also proved right.

In the book of Acts, Agabus the prophet predicted a famine, some scholars believe about two years ahead of the famine in 46 BC. Again, he was right.

Paul was told that if he went to Rome, he would be chained. Again, that prophecy was correct.

God still speaks predictive words today. Most of what I've heard personally has been for intercession. JUST BECAUSE GOD GIVES A PROPHECY DOESN'T MEAN IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN. Positive prophecies never come to pass if their conditions are not met. Similarly, negative prophecies will not happen if they are met with repentance. Recall Ninevah. How many days did Jonah say they had, 40? Yet they repented, and look what happened. Jonah 3:4-10 "Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it."

God CAN change His mind.

In intercession, when God has shown me something that will happen at some future time, it has ALWAYS been so that I will pray.

For example, I had a vision of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the White House being decimated in about 1998. To tell you the truth, I had no idea what to do with that vision. What do you do? Go proclaim it from the house tops? Instead, I prayed. I labored in the Spirit, often with tears, praying for God's mercy on my country, and praying that He would somehow mitigate what Satan had planned, and what also Satan had a legal right to do. I know that it still came to pass, but I believe that there were other peope praying, too, and I believe that these horrible, ungodly acts were greatly reduced.

I saw Katrina one year ahead of that disaster. I was not alone. Many intercessors saw it and were praying. How much my heart has ached as I see New Orleans go back to its reprobate life style. How is it that they cannot learn? Those who sow unrighteousness allow Satan dominion in their lives, and this is true not just for individuals but also cities. Gal. 6:7; Proverbs 11:11; Ps. 94:20.

In short, God still gives predictive prophecy to those who will listen.

I don't think, though, that predictive prophecy is the topic of this thread. This thread is for practicing personal prophecy, I think. Every born-again believer can prophesy. You need to understand. Jesus lives in each of us, and His sheep hear His voice, John 10:3, 16, 27.

If anyone wants to, go and give me a word.

I do have a word for you, but I am trying to follow this thread's rules. I'll wait until my words are judged.

Also, if God gives a word for me to any of my beloved brothers or sisters, I will be so happy to hear it!

Yes! You are right!

Every gift Jesus gave is still available to us today, because He is in us. I believe that God uses us especially in our giftings, for example, those in 1 Cor. 12:8-11, but I also know that He can ask us to move in an area we are not that comfortable in because He is in us, and everything we have is from Him.

So, for example, I am not an evangelist. But God has used me to preach the gospel many times, and I've even gotten to see the fruit sometimes! :) Wow, this makes me so happy!

And I'm HORRIBLE at discernment. My husband and I often laugh about this. I just want to see the best in people, and believe the best about them. Praise God, my dear spouse is strong in this gift, and has protected me many, many times! But even in this gift, God has helped me. Isn't He good? Jesus Christ within us can operate through us in any one of the gifts, even if it is not our strong area.

How to increase the power of the Holy Spirit within you: spend time with God, in prayer and in Bible study, for as you strengthen your relationship with our Father, you will be able to more clearly hear Him; and as you study God's Word, your faith will grow, Romans 10:17. Apply everything you learn. Walk in holiness, loving others, being kind to others. A good rule is if you can't say anything good, don't say anything at all. Also, set your heart to obey God....

I asked God why I had such difficulty hearing Him one day. His answer was so good! He told me that the reason I couldn't hear Him clearly was because I was listening to the world too much. My ears were filled with static. I had to turn away from the TV, newspapers, etc, and spend more time in God's Word. Wow, that helped. Even today, when I have trouble hearing, I know I've been listening to the world too much again.

Be blessed, my brother, for God is doing an amazing work in you!

I'm not sure who this is for - probably all of us to some extent!

Some of you are like watering -cans. You are filled with water (the Holy Spirit) by god, and you go out and share what you have, pouring out His Spirirt where the ground is parched. And you see growth, and fruit. But sometimes the water runs out - and you must come back to God and be re-filled before you can give any more. You are doing a good job, God is blessing you, and you are seeing Him work.
But this is not His best for you! God wants you to be a hosepipe, not a watering can. You should be connected to the source, so that the living water flows through you without ever running dry - so that you are always receiving, always giving, and always full. God wants us to be connected into His supply all the time, not just topped up when we run dry.

God is calling you to step out in faith in something. I don't know what the circumstances, but (actually before I read you post) I think I hear God saying that He does, in fact, want you to step out in faith on this issue. To move forward in it and to trust in Him who works all things to the good of those who love Him. What I heard is "Step out"

Thank you, your right I do need to step out in faith.

ariel, how can the words be judged if you do not speak them? Am i missing something here?

Well, I gave this prophetic word to Ahmunmun, and I'm waiting, hoping that someone will judge it as a good word. If so, then I'll give another prophecy.

I just thought I should abide by the rules the OP set up.

Daughter of God,

God is giving you peace like a river. I see His peace around you, although not necessarily in you. I see you taking something like a bucket--faith--and dipping it into that river, and drinking deeply, and being at rest.

There are times in your life when you will be ministering to people who have no peace. "Give them My peace," says your Father, "because I have provided it for you. Give them My peace, and with that peace will come faith to believe.

I am your peace."

Ariel, although I got different imagery, the word I got for her was virtually the same, therefore, I think it was a very good word.

Thank you BellaSong! I wasn't aware that you had given her a word. Isn't it just like Him to confirm in a different way?

This is someone I want to encourage:

If anyone wants to, go and give me a word.

As I was praying for you, I saw you in the Spirit. You are a warrior, a warrior for God. You have both the shield of faith and the sword of the Spirit. As you use these, standing firm against the enemy, Ephesians 6:14, you will grow stronger in your faith, and in your ability to fight. So use these. Stand firm, for your God is for you, and if God is for you, no one can stand against you.

I continued praying, and I felt that God was showing me the wiles of the enemy against you, many of these in your future. Because Satan hates a praying Christian, he is going to try to put snares and impediments in your path. There are two things you can do that will keep you strong, and keep you away from the snares of the enemy. One, stay in God's Word. Be strong in it. For God's Word will keep you strong, and enable you to overcome by faith. Second, do not move unless you hear God directing you. Remember the cloud of God's presence in the Exodus. Israel was directed not to move unless the cloud moved, and then only go where that cloud led them (Exodus 40:36-38; Num. 9:17). Similarly, don't move unless God is leading you. Listen for God's directives, for He will speak to you.

Stay strong, my brother. For your God is with you. He will not leave you, nor forsake you. As He calls, He will enable you, always.

This isnt practice its real and i wish i didnt have to deliver this message but i must i would much rather edify than have to give a warning but i have had to do both in the past and now i must warn.
Have you ever seen a very dirty rug with stuff on it . you pick it up and when you shake it it roll and all that is on it is removed. this is what God has been doing since Huricane Katrina. huricanes, fires, earthquakes, tornados, flooding sickness all has increased with the first shakening.
Now around June the 1st we must prepare ourselves for the second shakening which will be larger with MUCH MORE intensity. Hurricanes, plagues, tornados, violence, flooding earthquakes, fire, and drought will be greater MUCH greater beginning in june.
God is bringing us through the fire to lead us and the world to Love when all is removed those who are setting on their hands must either reach for help or reach to help and this will guide them to Love. Love will be seen by many for the first time but this can only happen when ALL IS REMOVED.
I pray you will take this serious this is not the first message i have been given to deliver God had me deliver the message of hurricane Katrinas exact landfall both where and when. God also gave me the warning to deliver the message of Israels last war each was delivered as this one 30 days before the event. i tell you this so you will take the warning serious and prepare as needed. there are those on this forum that can confirm the two previous messages and this message was confirmed to me by two other servents of Christ this morning each was shown a Red moon one seen it in the sky one seen it in a vision.
I will not debate this message it has been delivered and my hands are clean.
May God be with us all as we move through the fire !!

Millerrod, I'm not the OP, but I don't think that this is the place for this kind of prophecy. Is there another site?

This site is meant, I believe, for practicing personal prophecy.

There are two things that disturb me about your word. One, you do not want any comment on it. We are just supposed to accept it. But remember that Paul said in 1 Corinthians 14:29 that others are supposed to judge a prophetic word. Prophecy is to be judged, always, 1 Thess. 5:21. Two, there is a lot of fear in it. The fruit of this word is fear. Fear is never of God, 2 Timothy 1:7.

Nor am I witnessing to this word at all. Sorry.

I can also attest to this word. I was given instructions last fall to begin storing up supplies in preparation for a lenghty time of not having electrical power. I have been told to "tell the churches" that they are to be ministry centers for those people that are displaced and not able to get back home. These supplies are intended to be shared with all those that have need (NOT just for me and my family). God is going to use His servants to perform miracles during these stressful times. We are to show love and compassion....

as is stated in Matthew 25:34-40

34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

May our Lord give us all the grace and strength to endure these times ahead and OPEN OUR EYES to see and OPEN OUR EARS to hear.

Amen
