Don't worry about whether it is going to be accurate or not. Give your word, vision, or scripture in faith, and believe that the Holy Spirit will apply it according to His will. Some of the most powerful prophetic words have been given when a person has not been sure whether the prompting is from God or not. You don't have to know for sure, all you have to do is to be obedient to what you believe might be prompt from the Holy Spirit and to use your faith to present it.
Oscarr, this statement worries me a bit. I realize you have a strong opinion on the differences on OT and NT prophecy, and if I understand your viewpoints correctly, you do not see that a prophetic person should/would be condemned as the OT prophetic person if he or she makes a mistake in their prophecies. But I would like to ask you, what scripture do you base this on? Personally I do not see how it as a proper way of handeling the prophetic, giving words even though you have not discerned yourself what the source of the word is. The person receiving may have little, or no knowledge of spiritual discernment and may have no clue even that you are to test every single word. Word's that sound good, might be mistaken as Holy Spirit inspired when infact they were birthed from the human spirit. Even if we are in the NT, the Word's of our Father should be handled carefully, as they are holy. Speaking on behalf of the Lord when He has not spoken, is as dangerous and, yes, as sinful as anytime throughout Biblical history. Just as teachers, prophets (or prophetically gifted; I'll just refer to prophet from now on to keep it simple) have a responsibility in the giftings they possess. A prophet should know the value of the Word's carried through them. They should know that a true Word is accompanied by a display of power... as is explained in 1 Corinthians that each of the gifts are manifistations of His devine power on earth. If a word is not accurate, if the word is not adherent to Scripture, then it is not of the Holy Spirit. Ofcoarse there is an amount of faith that must go with the workings of each gift, and uncertainty is always a factor, but a true prophetic Word will contain somesort of inner confirmation. It is not wise to say that anyone who receives a random thought, should just speak out of faith. I don't believe there is any example in the Bible where someone received a Word without knowing on some level that it was from our Father.
Remember, don't give guidance, reveal sin, try to predict the future, or to give words concerning births deaths or marriages. Keeping these rules keeps you out of trouble.
I'm not quiet sure about this either. There have been a number of instances where various people throughout the NT that gave these very sorts of Words. Even Jesus when He was speaking to the Samatarian woman, told her of how she was living with man who was not her husband and that she was married a few times previously. Paul, when he was incarcerated and on a ship to Rome (?), gave a word of wisdom/guidance to spare the lives of those on the ship during a storm. In Acts, Peter revealed sin when he knew that a man and his wife were lying to the Holy Spirit about the amount of money they had received for the selling of their house. The man and his wife died as a result of that. Jesus predicted the future throughout the Gospels, and the apostle John gave a whole account of future times while he was on the Island of Patmos. Prophetic words can contain real facts, future events, and guidance.
Again, if I may ask, on what do you base this on when you give these parameters when operating in the prophetic? Maybe I am misinterpreting that you are saying that it is not wise for starters in the prophetic, to attempt to leap out in some sort of dramatic prophetic ministry... but otherwise... I don't think I agree because NT scripture gives examples where such prophetic utterances were given.
So, be encouraged and launch out into the deep with your faith. Follow the principle of "Reckless Abandonment" with your words. Be prepared to make mistakes. Don't be scared of making them. God will honour your faith.
Just to add, I'm not for stoning anyone if they make a mistake in the prophetic. It happens, to most, if not everyone. Mistakes are made in every single ministry of the Spirit, because we ourselves are not perfect. As Paul said, we will only reach perfection when the end comes. But mistakes should try to be avoided at all costs, because we are not dealing with something as witchcraft, or devination, but with the very Holy Spirit Himself, and we should honor His manifistations as they are holy and pure. Jesus, our advocate in Heaven, will forgive every sin made after we are born-again, but by the power of the Holy Spirit should we try to strive for perfection and not shrug our shoulders at things that could truely cause us to stumble.
He has honoured mine on this forum and I praise and bless Him for it.

Thanks a lot! I've been suffering from an attack of fear. I haven't left my room today. I've got job applications that need to be turned in and I haven't done it yet.I am taking you by the hand my child and I am leading you in a path you have not known. Do not be afraid but place your confidence in my word for I will perform it. Even now, I am standing before you that you may step out of all the afflictions the enemy has inflicted upon you.
It is my good pleasure and my perfect will to show you things to come. Did I not promise you that in the last days I would pour forth out of my spirit? Yes, my child, It is your generation that the enemy has tried to destroy with the drug culture and every type of evil activity to prevent you from coming to me.
Today my child, I am placing you under the shadow of my wings that you may call out to those in need of me, those who don't know me. I am placing that call in you as you stretch out your hand and touch me. Come for I will lead you and I will make the crooked paths straight before you.
Thanks a lot! I've been suffering from an attack of fear. I haven't left my room today. I've got job applications that need to be turned in and I haven't done it yet.
I'm not trying to tick anyone off and I mean no disrespect to anyone. My questions were meant in all seriousness. Why does nobody else ask "is this really God"? I'm not passing judgement, I'm just making observations and asking the questions. Anyone can feel free to jump in and give their opinions, but nobody else ever asks the tough questions. Why don't they? Does everyone read this and just say "praise God"? Why doesn't anyone read this and go "hey wait a second"?
The way your post was typed makes it read as if God Himself is typing. How do I know that was directly from God? Please don't just say it's a mystery of heaven or something. Thomas wanted to see the scars. I want to know how I know this was God speaking.
Spiritlead, I don't think i should have explain further concerning the word you gave me, tho I understand why you want me to. I will just say again that your word to me was confirmation. I'd also like to assure you that i had no problem whatsoever in the way you delivered the word. I don't think anyone should say that God would not speak through someone (within reason) in a certain way. God can chose whoever He wants and speak however He wants through a person and who are we to judge? I would also like to give my thoughts on people who seek more than one 'word'. Firstly we don't have a clue about what is going on in a persons life so, on that basis, we have no right to judge that person and decide how many times they recieve a word from God. Let God determine that. All we should do is be available to God so that if He choses to speak He has a vessel to speak through.
Well, enough from me.....Keep up the good work, spiritlead.
may i say something? The word is blasphemy.
And reading the post, it doesn't look as if the poster is actually speaking but rather it reads as if God actually typed the words. Now that someone has claimed to be standing in the place of a prophet, someone has some proving to do otherwise it could be considered blasphemy.
If the intent of the post was to offer encouragement, then the post could have done that without making it look as if God had typed on the keyboard.
I have nearly lost faith in those who give prophecy. Nearly, that is, just nearly, there are a few I still trust... But then again, I can't be sure about my own thoughts and feelings.
I cannot say that I have ever heard a word that I felt was real. Though I always say, 'Thankyou', and say something to support the idea that it is a real word... I do not truly feel it, I am not truly sure of it. To be honest, I do not want to hurt the faith of others. I lie, basically. "It is real" I say outloud, but inside I do not believe.
Nothing ever "hits" me... Everything seems generic, easy to say. I hear wonderful things, surely, usually wonderful, sometimes bad, but never quite hitting me where I need it to hit. I sense no confirmations, and I find no confirmations. My thirst grows all the more desperate with each prophetic word I receive, and I find no satisfaction anywhere I go. Perhaps I have itching ears, in search of a teacher who would say what I want to hear? Maybe... Or maybe I have never heard anything that has addressed the question I have, that constant question, that overwhelming question that consumes me like fire every single day!!
Really, has there ever been a prophetic word that has not increased my despair? And how many others suffer as I do when they hear wonderful words, only to find later that they were lied to? The best way, I know, is to hear God directly... But then the question... If all these prophets were false, why would I ever hear from God? Is there no one in the world who hears God? How... How can they? So many contradictions... One prophet says one thing, another prophet condemns it... Benny Hinn has his words, people find gold dust on their teeth, everyone claims something... Everyone... What is real?
These are the thoughts that have developed since I was introduced to "prophecy". I came searching for something more, answers to questions that could only be answered by an omniscient and omnipotent God... Yet here I am, after all this time, with that dark pit of despair still growing inside of me! The dark pit, it suspects that there is nothing real, and it wants to be filled up with meaning... But maybe, nothing was real all along, maybe it was all delusion.
My advice... If you do not want to end up like me, seek not after prophets to give you the answers you need. Seek God, and Him alone. My faith, it has disintegrated, I feel like I am dying... So many boundaries in my way to hearing God... And I myself placed them there.
I would like to propose that the fear of being wrong has taken as much a toll on this thread as the expression of exaggerated doubts has. Practicing anything necessarily includes the possibility of failing. Without allowing for that possiblity it becomes performance, and no progress can be made. Neither the gift of prophecy, nor the discerning of spirits tolerate ego very well. Of course having said that, it is only fair that I place myself in that position, and to that end I will seek after a word to post here myself.
