I would like to point out this thread was not to be a debate thread concerning prophecy but it is to be a thread of prophecy to those who ask for such. If someone says something that does not line up with scripture or does not edify or help to grow another then by all means we need to stand against it. but to debate the function and us of prophecy should be for another thread not this one. However its not my show so do as you wish i am just stating my thoughts for what thats worth.
We all need a safe haven to ask for and recieve inspired words that encourage and aid in our growth i hope this thread can remain as such. Peace and Love !! Rod

This is my whole life right there. Most people are born naked, I was born with a concrete shell around me.Knownbeforetime - when I was reading your post, i got a very clear picture of a hermit crab.
This crab is happy and protected in its shell. But there comes a time when it is ready to grow. The shell can't grow - so the crab has to come out of it. Outside, it is very vulnerable and unprotected - until it finds a larger shell, where it can be safe.
I think that perhaps you are afraid to come out of your shell - afraid to be vulnerable.
But - when you do, you will grow!! And God will provide you with protection!

Even if it's not a "debate" thread and I have a question, I'm going to raise it. Kinda my style I guess, sorry. If something is really of God, it will stand no matter what, so I will continue to ask questions and try to figure things out, expecially when it involves something important like communications directly from God, speaking as a prophet, and someones spiritual well being.
A prophetic discussion thread has been opened up which might be useful for you to raise the issues that you want to raise.
I don't have any problem with your issues, and I am enjoying our discussions. Life would be boring if we all just agreed with each other.
I can handle it better when someone qualifies a statement with something like "I think this is what God is telling me......" This at least leaves the option of a mistake open.Some of the most powerful prophecies I have ever heard have come from people who have said, "I don't really know if this is what God is saying to you, but...."
Exactly. And that's my beef too.Conversely, some of the worst errors have come from people who have felt they were absolutely certain that they had a word from God and have boldly started their prophecies with "This Saith The Lord...etc" Bears thinking seriously about.

But if your going to say "God told me" or "Thus saith the Lord", I have a harder time accepting it because you are claiming to speak directly from God and thus cannot be wrong. And if you do this, you are claiming that your words are on the same level as scripture. That's why I have a hard time buying the "God told me" or "Thus says the Lord" statements.
