  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So your friends accept it too?

Now I feel really alone! Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that you all have friends who accept online prophecy, but I wonder why I don't have people in my life like that.
The way I see it is, if you feel as though you have received a word that was encouraging and from the Lord then there is nothing else that you need.... don't worry about all the rest.

Pretty much just try to quiet your own mind and just ask the Lord to give you a word for that person.. and then...WAIT!:)
Blessings and good luck!:)
God enjoys our times of learning and our struggles.. just like when we watch our own children struggle to draw us a picture.. the struggle and end result are always perfect no matter what happens:) Blessings!!:)

This morning, I really feel anger stirring up over my pastor for taking away the encouragement I got from people here. Imagine that, in a time that you need encouragement the most, and you receive it, someone tells you to trash it because no matter how applicable the encouragement is, it comes from a stranger!

My pastor needs some prayer, if you guys don't mind. I'm in the process of writing him a long letter to explain why his attitude is not right and how he has deeply wounded me. Also pray for me because I'm really scared that I'm going to blow up at my pastor someday.
Oh no Ahmunmun!
Sounds like a bad situation.. I will be praying for you! I just hope you stay encouraged.. I would receive encouragement from anyone.. but I don't know about specific words from people.. but anyway.. praying for you.. God continue to bless you and overflow you with His love!:)

I've heard you had to "quiet" your mind so to speak. It can be kind of tough for me because I then start thinking "Is my mind quiet yet?" lol

Well the thing is that it gets confusing because we have to quiet our minds.. but we have the mind of Christ... so... wait.. what? haha! The Lord speaks to us as a whisper in our spirits.. so it's easily confused by our thoughts.. we just have to draw encouragement from our hearts and really have a heart to encourage people and then words will start to flow as the Lord starts to bring thoughts in your head that wern't there before.. hope that makes sense!:)

I know that, but I'm concerned because he could be preaching what he believes and mislead others.

What about you? How do Christians in your life react to your seeking the prophetic on an Internet message board?

Whenever you read something that is encouraging, you can ask God if there's anyone on here who would benefit from the encouragement. If God places a user name in your mind, then you can share that something encouraging with him or her. Does that make it easier? It does for me. That way, you won't have to hear a new message. You already have a message, but you just ask God who to share it with!

Thanks very much for the prayer, Steven. It means a lot to me. You know, I think your prayer was effective because I just spoke to my pastor earlier and he doesn't seem to oppose my seeking online prophecy anymore. Of course, this doesn't mean that he doesn't oppose it in general, but at least he now believes that I could benefit from it.

Pray for others to be able to discern the truth from a lie.

I haven't had any reactions because I don't share the words I receive with others. The reason for this is because I believe the word is for me and I don't feel prompted by the spirit to tell people about it.... it's a special message from God to me that others just might not understand.

I have received words from people in person and I treat them the same way I do if I receive one from online.

but i am led to respond to it in general, because someone may read this and be interested, and it is something that i know about. so please do not feel that i am trying to give advice to you personally. i am not a minister or a pastor, just a sister who has lived.

pastors are watching for our souls, that is what the Bible says about them. if you have a good pastor, he is doing the best he can to look out for your best interests. it does not mean that he knows or understands all things. i don't take every word that i receive to my pastor, although i do tell him some of them, and he is one who will listen and discern everything. he even taught us to keep our eyes open when somebody is giving us a word so that we will hear it completely, we need all of our senses to be open to God. don't start shouting and praising and saying Amen while they are talking, but listen, listen...and listen again to everything they say, then pray about it to make sure it is from God.
he will be the first one to tell you that he is not quick to jump on the bandwagon of anything that he has not tested out for himself by the Bible, and that is a good thing.
someone spoke a word to me once that did not completely agree with my spirit, and i told him about it. he said "it was late...!" i am blessed to have a pastor who understands the prophetic and also does prophesy when God leads him. he does not believe in receiving prophesy from people he does not know either. if i told him that someone prophesied to me online, his eyes would probably get really big, and he would say nothing, or he would ask me specifically about the content.
i have e-mailed him words of encouragement that i have read online and he said "thanks! i needed that one". so, it all depends on the pastor, and what he believes.

if your pastor does not believe in online prophecy, then don't hold it against him. you really don't have a right to blow up at him because of what he believes is protecting you, and if a word is really from God, keep it in your heart, and meditate on it like Mary when the angel spoke to her about Christ. you or anyone else would be out of line for writing him a letter telling him about his attitude, when maybe it is yours that you should be checking. sorry to say that, but somebody may think that is the way to go and it's not. he may not fully understand, but he is still the pastor and he has to answer to God for whatever he allows or gives consent to.
no one can take what you don't give out. it's good to share things with the pastor, on the other hand, some things you can hold onto for a time, at least until they come to pass.
the information superhighway is full of drivers, some are good, some are reckless, some should not drive. it is not a bad idea to err on the side of safety.

let me share one more thing about pastors and what they think. i am a trained dancer. when i first started going to my church, i was dancing at my seat during praise and worship having a good time, just me and God. one of the men who i thought was an elder (i later found out he was a choreographer) pulled me out of the congregation and up to the front of the church and said "go forth" and there i was, dancing away in front of the whole assembly. i thought i was in big trouble when he stepped aside from the pulpit to watch...later on when i spoke with him he began to question me about what happened. he admitted that he did not understand it, although he believed it was from God and told me to do a study on it and explain it to him. later on when i did, he admitted that i had given him the clearest explanation about what prophetic dance was.
if i had gotten upset with him i would have messed up any further opportunity to talk again, and he would not understand something that he did not know.
blessings to all:groupray:
and Merry Christmas

:crossrc: Lord Jesus look on ahmunmun, you know and see the situation she is in, and the thoughts and intents of her heart. you know the heart of the pastor who is watching for her soul. we ask that you would give him wisdom and knowledge to discern what is true, and not to be driven and tossed by every wind of doctrine. we ask that you would continue to keep him in perfect peace, as he watches out for those who you have assigned to his spiritual oversight. look on his home, his family, bless his mind to be renewed in Your Word on a daily basis. keep him from all hurt, harm, danger, distruction and peril, protect him for the froward man and the strange woman that would seek to destroy his life and discredit your Name. now God we ask that you would give ahmunmun peace in her heart towards her pastor, let her have wisdom and quiet rest in You. teach and train her spirit to hear directly from you, and to know when you are speaking. let her seek your face directly, let her know that you are always available to hear, to speak, to lead and to guide into all the truth. we thank you that your Word is the sure prophecy that cannot lie, cannot fail, cannot fall to the ground or return to you void with no effect. we thank you for all of your plans that you have for her, to give her an expected end, that every purpose in her life will come to pass, that she wil not be confused, discouraged, or tossed aside. we thank you for giving her spiritual maturity and stabilty so that her faith stands not in the word of a man, but in the word of God and that all she hears would immediately be judged by the Word of God that is in her heart. we thank you for the great love that you have for her and for all people, and that you will perfect the things that concern her life.
and we thank you and we praise you for all of your blessings,
In Your Name
Amen:crossrc:

Merry Christmas

Oh hi again bithiah. I appreciate your post, but I can't accept all of what was said. Firstly, I already spoke to my pastor (see my last post). I did not blow up at him, but I had to make him understand that what he's teaching is unbiblical. He is saying test the person but the Bible says to test the spirit. He may not mean to preach anything unbiblical, but that's what he did.

You have no idea how much his words harmed me in the past. It's not just for this situation but for other situations. With all that combined together, I feel that there's something very wrong in him. So in my opinion, you have no right to tell me that I cannot write him a letter to point out what I feel is wrong in his pastoring especially I am the victim of his wrongdoing. I have also been praying to God about the letter, and that God would give me the words to say. It's not like I was going to blow up at him. The idea was tempting, but I didn't say it was right. In fact, I had asked you all to pray that I wouldn't, and I mean it.

I know he's looking out for my best interest. You don't need to tell me what I already know. I've already taken that into consideration too. It's just that when he does a lot of things wrong that make me feel that there's something wrong with his pastoring, I have to point it out to him in a gentle way. If I was a bystander, then you might be right. It's none of my business to point out his wrongdoings, but I'm the victim! That's a whole different story.

Also, it looks like everyone else here who goes to a church has a pastor who support him/her. How do you think I feel? It's like I'm homeless and I'm watching everyone else being happy with their family.

I appreciate your prayer and I thank you for that.

I cannot accept advice because nobody knows the specifics of my situation. You give the advice that I am wrong to write him a letter, without knowing the other things he did. I know this was going to happen. You can't just know a bit of a very delicate situation and then tell me what I should do and what I should not do. It doesn't work that way. If I want advice from you, then I would have to tell you the whole situation so you would see the whole picture.

If you don't mind me saying, enough is enough. I've talked with my pastor about prophecy and he accepted my correction. Now let's move on because I don't want to talk about it anymore. As much as you think I need to hear your advice, I don't. As much as you think you understand all about what I'm going through to even give me advice, you don't. I want to be firm because I've been hurt in the past by people who shove unwanted advice down my throat, and I don't want it to happen again.

I've edited my last post several times now and I don't really know how to make it more gentle while communicating what I truly feel. It's just that I have been hurt too many times by people who lecture me as though I don't already know the points they raise, and people who force advice down on me without knowing the whole picture. The situation is not what you think. Let's just put it that way.
