  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

Didn't you even read the rest of Rom 7?
"BUT" I see another law...
What law?
The law of sin which Paul sees in his members.
This is obviously speaking of a former time, as Rom 8:2 says..."
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death."
Why do you erroneously suppose Paul is STILL subject to he law of sin after he has been freed from it by law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus ?
Paul is leading us through the transition of his walk in the flesh to his walk in the Spirit using his own experiences for us to follow along.
Kill the flesh. (Rom 6:3)
Bury it. (Rom 6:4)
Be raised with Christ to walk in newness of life. (Rom 6:5)
The conclusion wrapped together in Rom 6:6-7..."Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
For he that is dead is freed from sin."

Would you please read the next verses !
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die:
but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
It surprises me to see you post all the scriptures that refute your POV.
Those in Christ, Christians, are not in the flesh anymore.
We walk in the Spirit...thanks be to God.[/QUOTE]

Hey brother, could you give us some verses for your ideas?
heb10:
0 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:

12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

However, wouldn't you agree that
those "Christians" who practice habitual sin
are no longer walking in the Spirit and
are no longer "in Christ Jesus"!
They may call themselves "Christians", but they are not.
The first sin as a supposed Christian manifests of whose seed they are born.

I quickly scanned some of it and found this disturbing clue to his motives..."We do mean that every Christian has urgent need to daily pray for the forgiveness of his daily sins."
I guess he didn't read chapter 6 before opining on chapter 7.
Romans 6 tell of the death and burial of the old man, the sinner.
It goes on to tell of the resurrection of the new man "with Christ".
To continue sinning would show a lack of faith that this has actually occurred.
It also means the "newness of life" is exactly like the old life.

You should quit depending on such a man for your eternal outcome.

My eternal outcome was settled at the cross by the Lord Jesus Christ. No man decides that.
But God has given pastors and teachers to His church.
You try and set aside Mr. PINK because you have no answer to him.
Phil, you have half truths. The problem with half truths is the other half is error.
When I can I will offer more on it.

Do you think there is sin in Christ?
I don't.

No bro', you're too legalistic.
You should understand that all BACs sin!
We're talking about HABITUAL SIN.

This would include when the Holy Spirit
has tried to turn the BAC around to the
point of repenting of his sin (i.e. stopping it).
Butski, many BACs are NOT hearing that
still small voice, or even if they do hear Him,
they just choose to continue habitually sinning!

P.S. my apologies to Hammster who thinks
God never fails in His efforts to do something!
I guess it was God's will that those poor Jewish
BACs become estranged from Christ and fell
from grace in Galatians 5.

I am sure Christian's still sin in thought ,word, and deed.
They no longer practice sins, like stealing,or fornication, or drunkenness. But as they are not yet glorified they do sin.
We are instructed to mortify the deeds of the body.
In heaven we will no longer be able to sin, but on earth we are quite able to sin.
Phil..
Have you been in a public place and lusted? You were not planning on it, but you turn around and see some random cleavage, or that woman in the short skirt? You do not pursue it at all, but did it get your attention more than it should?
That is lust my friend. It is sin.

Legalistic?
It is written..."For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." (2 Cor 5:21)
Those who sin are not "in Him".
Those "in Him" have been endued with the righteousness of God...thanks be to God in the name of Jesus Christ.
This precludes habitual and one time only sin.

This would include when the Holy Spirit
has tried to turn the BAC around to the
point of repenting of his sin (i.e. stopping it).
Butski, many BACs are NOT hearing that
still small voice, or even if they do hear Him,
they just choose to continue habitually sinning!
Had they "heard" at the beginning of their claimed conversion, there would be no more sinning.
It is written..."Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God." (1 John 3:9)
Do you figure they are reborn again of Godly seed every time they need to "turn from" sin again and again?
Sin manifests that they are not carrying the seed of God which would preclude sin.
Apple trees cannot bear carrots.
God's seed cannot bear wickedness.

That isn't what Jesus, Peter, Paul. James, or John taught.
Your idea of a Christian has been tainted by a history of false "church" goers who make Christ look bad.

We are instructed to mortify the deeds of the body.
So why aren't "they" doing so?
It's not impossible !

In heaven we will no longer be able to sin, but on earth we are quite able to sin.
If, in Christ, "we" can sin on earth, why won't "we" be able to in heaven too?
It is written..."For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. (Colossians 3:3)
"We" are already in heaven.
Paul writes..."I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." (Gal 2:20)
Christ "living in me" doesn't commit sin, and" I" don't commit sin because "I" have been killed with Christ and hidden in God.

Phil..

No, Thanks be to God I have not.
It is written..."And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts." (Gal 5:24)
My lusts were killed when my old self was killed on the cross with Christ...at my baptism into Christ and into His death. {Rom 6:3-6)
The results are found in the next verse..."For he that is dead is freed from sin." (Rom 6:7)
This verse is true.

Phil,
Lying is a sin.
You say you no longer sin, you are sinless?
Not even close. You can live in the land of make believe if you want .
Our citizenship is in heaven, but our non glorified body is right here on earth, still able to sin.
You are still able to sin.
You are still able to get sick.
You will grow old, die, and decay.
Anyone can say anything online, but the real world is where it takes place.

Brother, it is not the same, she is not authorized to speak for God as only a prophet can!
Our feelings are NOT to be the yardstick with which to judge Almighty God. I prefer to believe the testimonies of some people who have been shown heaven and hell.
You are opening yourself to deceit by feeling your way instead of trusting in the word of God guaranteed through the prophets when you choose to listen to those who are not authorized to speak for God and reject the person who is authorized to speak for God? She is a prophet, the only person authorized in the Bible to speak for God. Choosing not to listen to a prophet established by God as the only person who can speak for Him and, what is worse, choosing instead to listen to others who are not authorized to speak for God, is not the way to follow God. The Bible only teaches that a prophet can speak for God, no one else!
It only makes sense to me that a loving and merciful God would back up what He says in Scripture with more evidence ... confirming evidence!
There is only one guaranteed way in which God speaks to us from the beginning, the Bible is a collection of these messages from God through the prophets. You are opening yourself to deceit if you accept any other means of listening to God. You must test your spirit with the guaranteed word of God through the prophets, if your spirit distances you from the word of God, it is not God who is guiding you. The scriptures reveal that the dead “know nothing” and therefore cannot be tortured.

For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward, and even their name is forgotten. Their love, their hate and their jealousy have long since vanished; never again will they have a part in anything that happens under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 NIV)

The scriptures reveal the complete destruction of the soul in the second death, where resurrection is no longer possible because the spirit that returns to God that permits the resurrection in a new body is also destroyed.

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28 NIV)

The second death destroys the complete soul: body and spirit, there is no possible resurrection after the second death.
People who have seen hell testify of the sad state of those who are there ... some are being tortured as I write. Believers and pastors alike are there with unbelievers!
Do you follow the creator who told us about the coming of Jesus from the beginning to the prophets or are you making your own way? Why are you opening yourself to deceit by choosing to believe those who speak against what the Bible teaches?

There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” (Proverbs 14:12)

Only the guaranteed word of our creator, through the prophets, is guaranteed truth from God, no other way has been revealed for our salvation and we have been warned to follow our own path!
Hebrews says the disobedient simply prove their unbelief. Disobedient to what ...
Disobedient, especially to the first four commandments about showing love toward God, most Sunday Christians are willing to listen to loving your neighbor and know the Jews were weak on this part of the commandments, but they are not willing to hear anything about showing love for God, the Jews are strong in this part of the ten commandments, they do everything possible to make sure they do not break any of these first four commandments.
believing the simple gospel? Give me a break!
You think it’s simple because you do not obey the Sabbath, try to get a job without being able to work on Sabbath and you’ll see how the world opposes you, pressing for the false substitute of Sunday instead of the Sabbath established in the week of creation, where God rested on the seventh day and made it holy. Note, that this took place before sin took hold of our first parents: Adam and Eve.

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. (Exodus 20:8-11 NIV)

To “remember” the Sabbath day by keeping it holy shows love for God, something Sunday Christians are weak at, while the Jews are better in showing love for God in obeying the first four commandments.
They are disobedient to Jesus' commandments, for starters.
What are the commandments of Jesus, according to Jesus in the following passage?

A man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?” “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.” “Which ones?” he inquired. Jesus replied, “‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother,’ and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’” “All these I have kept,” the young man said. (Matthew 19:16b-20a NIV)

The rich man asked Jesus “which” commandments He was referring to and Jesus confirmed the part of the ten commandments about loving your neighbor that the young man already knew. You may ask why Jesus did not mention the first four, because the Jews are strong in these and weak in loving their neighbor. The opposite is true for Sunday Christians, they are weak in the first part of loving God and prefer, opposite to the Jews, the second part of loving their neighbor.

On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?” He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.” (Mark 10:25-28 NIV)

The pendulum has turned, the Jews are focused on loving God to the neglect of neighbor, and Sunday Christians prefer loving their neighbor to the neglect of loving God, and none is balanced in doing both: love God and your neighbor to fulfill all the law in the ten commandments. United in our hope of the soon return of Jesus, Jorge

No, it refers to any single sin.

Fig trees cannot bear grapes.
The seed can only bring forth after its progenitor.
We are reborn of Godly seed, so how can we bring forth wickedness and evil?
We can't...thanks be to God Almighty.
