2Ch 3:1 Now Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the LORD[fn] had appeared to his father David, at the place that David had prepared on the threshing floor of Ornan[fn] the Jebusite
    2Ch 5:2
Now Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel, in Jerusalem, that they might bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD up from the City of David, which is Zion.

    Jer 26:18
“Micah of Moresheth prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts:
Zion shall be plowed like a field, Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins,
And the mountain of the temple[fn] Like the bare hills of the forest.” '[fn]

    Mic 3:12
    Therefore because of you
Zion shall be plowed like a field, Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins,
And the mountain of the temple Like the bare hills of the forest.

The Destruction of Jerusalem - George Peter Holford, 1805AD

History records few events more generally interesting than the destruction of Jerusalem, and the subversion of the Jewish state, by the arms of the Romans. -- Their intimate connexion with the dissolution of the Levitical economy, and the establishment of Christianity in the world ; the striking verification which they afford of so many of the prophecies, both of the Old and New Testament, and the powerful arguments of the divine authority of the Scriptures which are thence derived....................

...................Concerning the Temple, our LORD had foretold, particularly, that, notwithstanding their wonderful dimensions, there should "not be left one stone upon another that should not be thrown down ;" and, accordingly, it is recorded, in the Talmud, and by Maimonides, that Terentius Rufus, captain of the army of Titus, absolutely ploughed up the foundations of the Temple with a ploughshare. Now, also, was literally fulfilled that prophecy of Micah- "Therefore shall Zion, for your sakes (i. e. for your wickedness,) be ploughed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the LORD's house as the high places of the forest." (Micah iii. 12)

The Red Heifer Bridge and the Altar of the Red Heifer still intrigues me since coming across just a few weeks ago.
What was the Temple procedure for Red Heifer back before 70ad?

And what did the bridge look like back then compared to today?
It would appear to be difficult for the 10th Legion to use because of it's narrowness.............

The bridge shown here looks like an earthen bridge?

With my southern location for the temple completed the next logical step for me would be to locate the approximate area for the altar of the red heifer sacrifice on the Mount of Olives.

Of course the Red Heifer altar would have been built 2000 cu. (outside the camp) from the Holy of Holies. A place where the temple could still be seen, which was the summit of the Mount of Olives. (Num 35:5, Num 19:2-9, Mishnah Middot 2:4)
On the map below I had placed my diagram of Solomon's temple complex and drew a line from the Holy of Holies through the inner and outer east gates, and continued it to the summit of the Mt of Olives. This year a friend measured the mount on foot, using simple tools, starting at the backside of Zechariah's Tomb up to the summit. I then added my measurements from the Holy of Holies to the backside of Zechariah's Tomb to his (as if the bridge were there). The approximate 2000 cu (17.5 cu) ended in the Carmelite Olive Grove at the top of the Mt of Olives. I used my diagram of Solomon's Temple in the map below, since Herod moved the location of the Temple house a little to the North. I also transposed Warren's map over this satellite view so that I could be as exact as possible.

    Red Heifer
Unlike ordinary sacrifices, which could be slaughtered only at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting (Lev. 17:5), the red heifer was to be slaughtered outside the camp (Num. 19:3). Not slaughtered in the camp are likewise the scapegoat (Lev. 16:10), the calf whose neck is broken (Deut. 21:4), and the birds used in the purification of the recovered leper (Lev. 14:7). The red heifer was more like an ordinary sacrifice than these, however, in that some of its blood was sprinkled seven times toward the front of the Tent of Meeting (Num. 19:4).

Sadly, there are many Christians who also believe a Jewish temple must be rebuilt. Some have even given money to "The Temple Institute" to help rebuild the temple.

I have heard some Christians even argue that animals will be sacrificed during the millennium, not for sin, but as a "memorial".

All of this only produces confusion in the Body of Christ, and therefore it is an important consideration.

Indeed. Even in some of the videos they make rebuilt temple a key point that must happen as a key indicator that the end is in full swing.

Perhaps that's why all the uncertainty about temple location...God's plan.

    I'm looking into it though.

The more i have researched the subject, the more i can see how the existing Temple mount is just so very wrong. Everything points to the city of David.

    Josephus testimony
The only spring in the area
The fact no stone was keft standing
The fact it was 'ploughed' over as per scripture (check old pics)
How scripture places it in the City of David
The fact that it looks like the first Temple is there in the City of David

The temple is built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the cornerstone....and again as Peter says, we are "living stones"...and again as Hebrews says Jesus entered a MORE PERFECT TABERNACLE MADE WITHOUT HANDS.

    This ain't hard folks.

‘Because of this, lo, I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes, and of them ye will kill and crucify, and of them ye will scourge in your synagogues, and will pursue from city to city; 35that on you may come all the righteous blood being poured out on the earth from the blood of Abel the righteous, unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the sanctuary and the altar:
36verily I say to you, all these things shall come upon this generation.

    Luke 13:31-35)

37Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that art killing the prophets, and stoning those sent unto thee, how often did I will to gather thy children together, as a hen doth gather her own chickens under the wings, and ye did not will. 38Lo, left desolate to you is your house; 39for I say to you, ye may not see me henceforth, till ye may say, Blessed [is] he who is coming in the name of the Lord.’

The Destruction of Jerusalem - George Peter Holford, 1805AD

The day on which Titus encompassed Jerusalem, was the feast of the Passover..........

The Temple now presented little more than a heap of ruins ; and the Roman army as in triumph on the event, came and reared their ensigns against a fragment of the eastern gate, and, with sacrifices of thanksgiving, proclaimed the imperial majesty of Titus, with every possible demonstration of joy.

Thus terminated the glory and existence of this sacred and venerable Edifice, which from its stupendous size, its massy solidity, and astonishing strength, seemed formed to resist the most violent operations of human force, and to stand, like the pyramids, amid the shocks of successive ages, until the final dissolution of the globe. [12]

Before their final demolition, however, Titus took, a. survey of the city and its fortifications ; and, while contemplating their impregnable strength, could not help ascribing his success to the peculiar interposition of the ALMIGHTY HIMSELF. "Had not God himself (exclaimed he) aided out operations, and driven the Jews from their fortresses, it would have been absolutely impossible to have taken them ; for what could men, and the force of engines, have done against such towers as these ?"

    Zep 1:16
A day of trumpet and alarm
    Against the fortified cities
    And against the high towers.

LLoJ my response is to the question of a third temple...and why if there is one, it will mean nothing. The Church is the Temple now...and it is built upon the apostles and prophets with Christ as the Cornerstone.

    In Revelation 11:19:
19 And the temple of God which is in heaven was opened; and the ark of His covenant appeared in His temple, and there were flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder and an earthquake and a great hailstorm.

Christ opened that temple...none other matters!
