Where did that thread go anyway? I hope that it wasn't deleted for 'promoting a non-Christian religion'. That was, of course, the intent, but the article was presented as being unbiased(although I'm skeptical). It shouldn't have been removed if that was the reason. I'm just speculating though, not questioning.

I think he got the quote from the Jeff Lindsay article on the DNA evidences. Jeff Lindsay quotes many studies done by many non-LDS people with no religious agenda, and many of the quotes he uses can be found in the full context on the internet, though I can't remember the one used in that thread was on the internet or not. But I know Jeff Lindsay would not add something in a quote, that would ruin his integrity. The source of the quote used is from an unbiased source.

JS had published 3 facsimilies of the papyri with the translated text of the Book of Abraham that survived. Modern Egyptologists claim it is a farce. JS doesn't get off that easily.

I did consider it!

I read the BoM, prayed about it, decided to study more since I didn't know much about the D&C and PoGP. I read them and found them to be in complete contrast to the BoM. I decided that if Mormons believed in all of these books which contradicted each other(I realized this after praying about the BoM and actually reading the standard words...I hadn't even read any 'anti-Mormon' material yet!!!), then the person who put them togather(Joseph Smith) was a pretty mixed up guy and the church itself was mixed up. I then started researching him and found that he wasn't the rosey and Godly man that the missionaries had told me that he was! He had a very contraversial past, even during and after writing(translating) the LDS scripture. He could not have been from God. The D&C and the PoGP taught things that were very contradictory to the Bible. Since this was the same religion that produced the BoM, then the BoM had to be a joke as well.

Things like changing doctrine, the BoA papyri being a complete lie of Joe Smith, NDA, archeological and linguistical evidence showing that natives have extremely little or no jewish origin, and many, many other things have made me realize beyond a shadow of a doubt that Mormonism is a complete load of poop. Joseph Smith is as much of a false prophet as Jim Jones, Muhammad and the priests of Baal.

I think you had better study the facts and not your assumptions about the facts. Some of Joseph Smith's Papyri were found. The LDS Church acknowledged that they were *part* of the Joseph Smith Collection. No one from the LDS Church has stated that they were all of the collection. All evidence points to the fact that they are only part of the collection and that the rest of the collection was most probably burned in the Chicago Museum fire.

FB: Carolbob, I don't think that you know enough ancient languages to make a conclusion as to what Modern Egyptologists conclude. What you rely on is anti mormons who have made their own conclusions to fit their agenda's which is denounce LDS theology. Now I am not going to say that LDS are any different, but there are some facts that anti's will never state. For instance in facsimilie 1 there is a lion couch with a figure on it with both hands and one leg in the air. Anti mormons will tell you that this is a simple funerary text. They would never say that Egyptologist have interpreted this as a man praying on a sacrificial alter. What did Joseph Smith describe. Just that. That is just one example.

Carol, in all politeness that I can muster, I don't think you are clear on the facts. There were rolls of papyrus that Joseph had. At least 2 or 3 rolls that when one of them was unrolled it went from one end of a house to another. We only have a small amount of what Joseph had. There is not evidence that shows that what we have is what Joseph translated from.

FB: Carol, the papyri that the church has are fragements. When an inventory was taken of the coffins there were two scrolls, and four fragements. All in good condition. The scrolls were in good enough condition that they could be unrolled. One of these scrolls had the Book of Abraham on it. Since it was common to bury their dead with a written direction to God, these fragments Escpecially the one found in New York Museum was a funeral text and a spiritual map to God. As Doc and I have stated the other contents of the coffins were sold to Chicago. It is supposed that it burned.
