The Jews killed in the Holocaust had lives of their own, though. They had friends and memories and people whose lives they touched. For you to compare an unthinking, unfeeling, unknowing fetus to a living human being is monstrous. I am 1/8th Polish (my paternal grandmother's parents managed to escape from Poland before the Holocaust started), so this comment hits me especially hard. Don't you dare try to make the Holocaust out to be as simple as an abortion. Don't you [insert swear word here]ing dare.

What makes it a holocaust, like the WWII Holocaust in Hitler’s Germany is that deplorable atrocities are being perpetrated on a massive scale against innocent and defenseless human beings WITH the sanction of the government and culture at large. Just like in Hitler’s Germany, incomprehensible horrors become routine daily realities. What you don't seem to understand is that the Jews in the Holocaust could feel the pain, starvation, and ethnic slurs that they were put through. Fetuses cannot even feel pain until the late second trimester (according to this site, this site, and this site), nor can they understand ethnic slurs or be put through starvation. Heck, can you even say that a fetus had to watch his/her mother be gassed to death? No, you cannot. You do not seem to understand the atrocities that were committed during the Holocaust, atrocities which no fetus, no matter how developed it is, will never have to go through. That is why I feel your comparison is faulty.

The president who slept through the majority of his meetings, was senile beyond belief, and was only elected because he was a former movie star (a la Arnold Schwarzennegger being elected governor of California). As you can see, I'm not going to take anything that he has ever said seriously.
