A first-trimester fetus is not alive, though. Sure, its heart is beating, but all that takes is an electrical current. I could hook up a cow's heart from the butcher shop to a car battery, and that would make the heart start beating. Does that, in your opinion, mean that the battery is alive?So, those are your distinctions. The dog owner says, "Who cares about conscientiousness, I OWN THAT THING! Besides, it is a vastly overpopulated animal, who cares!"
Meanwhile you say, "Who cares, it has no consciousness therefore I should be able to do whatever I want."
Either way, you are both the same criminal. You both ended something that was alive, regardless of what you consider worthy of life.
