  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am not pregnant and we are not trying yet, but my husband and I agreed I should start taking a prenatal vitamin for a while before we try. We bought Women's One-A-Day prenatal for now. My friend (who is a pharmacist and a mother) recommended UltimateCare One. I googled and did not see it as for sale anywhere so I'm guessing it is prescription only? Maybe I will ask the doctor for an RX at my appointment next month.

This is pretty much what we got, I think. I am OK with it, for the most part, but I did note that the iron is above the DV... so I'm not sure about that...

Any advice? What did you take during pregnancy? Did you take prescription prenatal vitamins or OTC ones? How long before TTC did you take anything?

There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of difference between brands. I started taking the ones you mentioned, then switched to a generic brand that was identical in compostion and less than half the price. My doctor recommended additional folate, so I take the prenatal vitamins and the extra folate. Do what your doctor says.

I really disagree that there is a difference. I've checked out healthfood stores and compared them to places like walmart, and it's a HUGE difference!

First, it should be a food based vitamin.

My kinesiologist had me on this multi while I was pregnant
Food Multi III BioMax - 180 tablets
I also needed extra iron, and still do. I take I-X, and yellow dock.

I also believe in extra iodine, and sometimes extra folic acid, and once pregnant, red raspberry leaf.

The most important is eating really really well. Lots of vegetables and leafy greens.

That's the one I've started taking last month because I'm not pregnant, but would like to be sooner than later. I did a bit of research online about what is considered good in a prenatal vitamin and reviews. I originally was going to get a different brand, but saw this one at Walgreens and liked that it had all of the things I wanted (at the levels I wanted) and the price is very good. I read that some brands are rough on the stomach, but I haven't had any problems with this one.
