  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Are the in-home ones just as reliable in accuracy?
I think so.

correction: I just googled and AI said that they aren’t. If it were me, I’d get one anyway because of the storm coming in. And a few years ago hubby and I both were sick at the same time, he was sicker than I was (I’d been vaccinated, he hadn’t). We talked to our doctor and she didn’t question our results when we both tested positive.
I read more, this time from the CDC,I think, and it said if you test positive, assume you have Covid. If you test negative you could still have it but might not have enough of the virus in your system. .Waiting to go back to the doctor would drive me crazy.

p.s. I don't want to put something up my own nose :sigh:
We just bought whatever the pharmacy had. And as far as I know they all require you to put a swab in your nose, twirling it around. Nothing to It. I was a little scared the first time I did it but turns out there’s nothing to it.

Hi, I'm not good at non-verbal praying. I always pray, talking, but the talking exacerbates my cough indescribably. I feel guilty not doing my prayers the way I want. I want to go back to regular praying again but my coughing is too brutal. I got a prescription for it but there are negative reviews about it. It is called benzonatate. I was told it was a non-drowsy cough medication but that's not what the warning on the bottle says. That means I can't experiment with my first dose until an hour or two before bedtime, and that's some waiting yet.

I got tested negative for the flu, got tested for covid I think, and it's probably covid due to the flu being negative, but I'll see.

edited to add: darnit the after-visit summary in my patient portal shows I got tested for influenza A and B, but doesn't indicate that I received a covid test. that means I may have to go on Monday to get another one.
Lord have mercy! Praying you feel better soon! :prayer:

I was going to do that tonight but do you think I'll get a reliable result since I first noticed my symptoms on Christmas Eve?
i googled AI Overview and it says that if it’s Covid the test would still detect the virus.

I ordered one (a set of two tests, in case I botch the first one) but I'm still afraid of sticking something up my nose. How do I know how much to stick up my nose? Granted, when others have done it, it has hurt, so I tell myself to stick it up until it hurts but my gosh I cringe at that thought.

It turns out that I actually did have a covid test ordered, but somehow the patient portal never said that it was being ordered. The results for covid were negative. This is more perplexing now because it wasn't just the cold or the flu, and it wasn't covid. I know I'm sick (even though there are signs of improvement, except for extreme fatigue). Maybe it's something like RSV. I don't know. It seemed like it was exactly the flu or covid, but it isn't either one. It wasn't the cold because I was having a fever/chills/aches the first two or three days.

I didn't realize that sinus infections could be this drastic. I know that sinus pressure totally sucks, though.
They can be very drastic and make you very ill. My husband and sister in law struggles with them yearly.

Do you have allergies? Our daughters sinus infections were part of her severe allergies but you can get them without that.
