What is your favorite prayer? Like for whatever religion you belong to...

Mine is the Confiteor lol which is not said by us but instead by priests but still... this is it in latin...

Confiteor Deo omnipotenti,
beatæ Mariæ semper Virgini,
beato Michæli Archangelo,
beato Ioanni Baptistæ,
sanctis Apostolis Petro et Paulo,
omnibus Sanctis, et vobis, fratres (et tibi pater),
quia peccavi
nimis cogitatione, verbo et opere:
mea culpa,
mea culpa,
mea maxima culpa.
Ideo precor beatam Mariam
semper Virginem,
beatum Michælem Archangelum,
beatum Ioannem Baptistam,
sanctos Apostolos Petrum et Paulum,
omnes Sanctos, et vos, fratres (et te, pater),
orare pro me ad Dominum Deum nostrum.
Amen.

and in english

I confess to Almighty God,
to blessed Mary ever Virgin,
to blessed Michael the Archangel,
to blessed John the Baptist,
to the holy Apostles Peter and Paul,
to all the Saints and to you, brothers (and to you Father),
that I have sinned exceedingly,
in thought, word and deed:
through my fault,
through my fault,
through my most grievous fault.
Therefore I beseech the blessed Mary,
ever Virgin,
blessed Michael the Archangel,
blessed John the Baptist,
the holy Apostles Peter and Paul,
all the Saints, and you, brothers (and you Father),
to pray to the Lord our God for me.
Amen.

1. In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
2. Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds;
3. Most Gracious, Most Merciful;
4. Master of the Day of Judgment.
5. Thee do we worship, and Thine aid we seek.
6. Show us the straight way,
7. The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, those whose (portion) is not wrath, and who go not astray.

Ah, there are so many beautiful ones!

A prayer to the Goddess Nut from the pyramid texts:
O Great Strider
Who sows greenstone, malachite, turquoise - stars!
As you are green so may Teti be green,
Green as a living reed!
(Nut is a Goddess of the night sky.. starlight was thought be be green, so it's an interesting connection in a prayer said by the dead -Teti- asking for eternal life. I've just always thought it was such beautiful imagery.)

Here is another I like very much, it is a hymn to Amun written by workmen in the King's valley:
Praise Amun! I shall make hymns in His name, shall sing His praises high as heaven, wide as earth.
I shall declare His might to whomever sails by, north or south.
Mention Him to son and daughter, great and small.
Tell of Him to generation upon generation not yet born. Tell of Him to the fish in the stream, to birds in the sky. Mention Him to those who know Him and those who do not.
You are Amun, Lord of the silent, Who comes at the voice of the wretched.
I called when I was in distress, and when You came, You delivered me.

A very short prayer which is probably my favorite:
The sky and the two lands have been given to Heru(Horus).

May I be under the sycamores on the day He dawns.

I have several favorite prayers...here are 3! :)

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O, Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life--Prayer of St. Francis

Today I will walk out, today everything evil will leave me,
I will be as I was before, I will have a cool breeze over my body.
I will have a light body, I will be happy forever,
nothing will hinder me.
I walk with beauty before me. I walk with beauty behind me.
I walk with beauty below me. I walk with beauty above me.
I walk with beauty around me. My words will be beautiful.

In beauty all day long may I walk.
Through the returning seasons, may I walk.
On the trail marked with pollen may I walk.
With dew about my feet, may I walk.

With beauty before me may I walk.
With beauty behind me may I walk.
With beauty below me may I walk.
With beauty above me may I walk.
With beauty all around me may I walk.

In old age wandering on a trail of beauty,
lively, may I walk.
In old age wandering on a trail of beauty,
living again, may I walk.
My words will be beautiful.--A Navajo Prayer

My soul doth magnify the Lord: And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. Because He hath regarded the lowliness of His handmaid. For, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For He that is mighty hath done great things to me, and holy is His name. And His mercy is from generation unto generations, to them that fear Him. He hath showed might with His arm. He hath scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart. He hath put down the mighty from their seat, and hath exalted the lowly. He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich He hath sent away empty. He hath received Israel His servant, being mindful of His mercy. As He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his seed forever.--The Magnificat

I also like The Shema, a pagan prayer called "Hymn to the All-Mother", and some Buddhist Prayers. Actually I like a lot of prayers :D

What is your favorite prayer? Like for whatever religion you belong to...

O Allah! Verily I seek refuge with You from a heart that is not humble, a soul that is not satisfied, knowledge that does not benefit and Supplication that is not answered.

O Allah grant me a double share of your mercy, provide for me a light to walk with and forgive my sins. O Allah you are Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful.

O Allah! give my soul it's good and purify it, for you are the best to purify it. You are it's Guardian and Master.

Far removed You are from every imperfection our Rabb, and All Praise is for You, Forgive me, O Allah!

"O Thou kind Lord!

O Thou Who art generous and merciful!

We are servants of Thy threshold and are gathered beneath the sheltering shadow of Thy divine unity.

The sun of Thy mercy is shining upon all, and the clouds of Thy bounty shower upon all.

Thy gifts encompass all, Thy loving providence sustains all, Thy protection overshadows all, and the glances of Thy favor are cast upon all.

O Lord!

Grant Thine infinite bestowals, and let the light of Thy guidance shine.

Illumine the eyes, gladden the hearts with abiding joy.

Confer a new spirit upon all people and bestow upon them eternal life.

Unlock the gates of true understanding and let the light of faith shine resplendent.

Gather all people beneath the shadow of Thy bounty and cause them to unite in harmony, so that they may become as the rays of one sun, as the waves of one ocean, and as the fruit of one tree.

May they drink from the same fountain.

May they be refreshed by the same breeze.

May they receive illumination from the same source of light.

Thou art the Giver, the Merciful, the Omnipotent."

I also like some of the Baha'i prayers... I feel peace when I say them, because a lot have to do with equality, and unity and love, which is really cool. I am really, extremely impressed by the Baha'i faith.. Very. If I believed in Mohammad, I would be Baha'i lol but I reject him, so I can't. But I LOVE the Baha'i faith, because it's just.. such a peaceful, unity religion. Everyone is treated as family. and i hear all the time that Baha'is feel opressed, but my friend who holds Baha'i services at her home every Thursday.. They do dances, and they pray, and it's really cool.. And every morning she reads Baha'i writings for 45 minutes, and every night she does the same. It's really impressive.

Now for Christian prayers.. I just pray to the Lord.. Of course I like Our Father, and Hail Mary. I read a lot from Psalms too.
