  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

UPDATED POST #33....PRAYERS ANSWERED

Some people know this, but I did not post it in public until I could make sure my wife was comfortable with it.

Yesterday our quad tests for the baby came back with a high possibility of downs syndrome. We have a sonogram on tuesday to check for further evidence.

The quad is a screen not a diagnosis...it shows that there is a possibility and you need to test. And the quad has a fairly high "false positive" rate. If there are markers in the sonogram that indicate downs...we are going to refuse any other test since the rest are invasive and have a 1 in 200 risk to the baby. The sonogram will give us an idea of what to prepare for, but really we will not know for sure until June.

If God has willed this, we know it is because this unique person will be loved by us and given every chance to reach their potential. We read to the baby and such and we let him/her know that no matter what any test would ever show they are beautiful and perfect to us.

I do pray this cup passes from the child, and I ask for prayers. But if it is God's will pray that we will have the strength and wisdom needed.

It is impossible to love my child more than I did before this and equally impossible that anything could lessen that love. He/she is called by name and crafted by God...no matter what the case their dignity is untouched and undiminished.

Pray for my strength today as I call family and prepare them so if the news on Tuesday is that there are markers that support the screen...my wife and I will not need to tell everyone the whole story but we can seek comfort in God and each other and prepare for His plan for our family.

And pray for my wife that her heart be strong and that God bring her comfort and peace.

I thank you my brothers and sisters for all your love and support.

It may be painful to feel such fear and sorrow...but the hope and prayer of health and no problems...do not make problems or an illness a factor that removes dignity.

God knew the name and form of this child before time. When He whispered my name and my wife's name in love of us...He whispered the name of this child too in the same love beyond our comprehension.

Pray that Jesus, Mary and Joseph be our strength and aid. May the Holy Family be with our family and give us strength.

I wouldn't put any stock into the words of doctors. They kept telling my wife and I that my son has problems, health and mental. I laughed at them. They kept saying to my wife alot of negative things. She kept saying to them, what i said to her. They insisted that she be prepared for the worse news from the test results. That made me angry. I kept saying to my wife, why don't these doctors say things like that when i am there? Why do they always say things like that when your alone with them? My wife kept saying that she has faith in God and that her son is fine. They disagreed with her. When the test came back, they were all clear. There is nothing wrong with him.

I'm praying for your baby.

I am hearing many stories like this. They are a comfort. And even if God does not bless us with this type of thing, he will bless us with our baby. And I rejoice in the Lord at how He has blessed you my brother.

You and your family will be in my prayers for hope, strength, and peace.
May God's perfect will be done for this precious child, and may you all the the grace to embrace it.

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us, and increase Your mercy in us, so that in difficult moments we might not despair, nor become despondent, but with great confidence, submit ourselves to Your Holy Will, which is Love and Mercy itself. Amen

My former gyne called to tell me the results after two tests [both wrong] that my son had spina bifida.
She called to explain to me that abortion was an alternative and that the baby wouldn't be normal and that it was ok to abort.

She had me literally in tears [for hours] and i told her several times i wasn't going to do that...even tho she insisted. I got rid of her immediately and contacted another doctor. [Soon after however; she moved to another state - apparently she wasnt well received here - and i wonder why]

I also talked to the sonogram expert who said if the child had spina bifida i could do surgery in utero.

It was scary - confusing, upsetting and way too horrible being told i should in fact kill my baby.
WHO btw is adorable. And so many ppl think he is soo cute. [bragging rights as a mom]
He is 8 years old now.

David, you know you are in my prayers...!!!! :crossrc::groupray::crossrc:

I'm sorry to hear of your child's potential condition. I hope that it proves not to be the case.

As I am sure you are very much aware, though, people with disabilities can still be blessings for some of the people who's lives they are a part of. If he or she is disabled, I am glad the child is at least going to be born into a family that will see the pregnancy to term and care for the child, treating him or her with respect and dignity.

Praying! Aaron and I actually refused the quad screen, because friends of ours fretted over what ended up being a false positive for downs.

But, no matter what the outcome your child is a blessing from God. My brother has classic autism, and he has been an incredible blessing not just to our family but to everyone that meets him :)

I can't make any promises, but I want to share with you that while our doctor did not professionally recommend against getting that test done, but did say that she had personally had a false positive on her own. My wife determined not to have the test done. Thus, it is possible that my wife and I are under the same possible 'cloud' as you (because we didn't have the test), only we remain joyful about the life that is going to rest in our arms fairly soon.

So, how do you think that you should feel?

I know that all this doesn't cure you trepidation, but, I trust that you'll be able to come to terms with your intellect even if you still struggle with your emotions.

Down Syndrome persons have an array of possibilities, by the way, and all whom I've met have been particularly content and happy people.

May the Lord richly bless you with strength. Amen.
