My wife and I had been matched to adopt a second child since November. Several weeks ago, the birth mother told us that she would not be placing the baby with us. We have been doing well with this, but found out today that the baby was born on Monday (through our adoption attorney's office). The reality of the situation has now come and we are both having some difficulty trusting in going on with our adoption journey. Please pray for us to have the patience and resilience needed to see this all through. If it is God's will for us to have a second child, it will happen in His time.

Our first adoption had some challenges as well, but we were rather naive and just rolled with the punches. This time, some people outside the dynamic interfered; some "friends" of the birth parents convinced them that it was evil for them to place their child for adoption, despite the fact that they both are in rehab and unemployed. The father does not want to raise another child, and the mother is ambivalent, but the bullying of their "friends" convinced her to pull out of the adoption about three weeks short of delivery. Not so much worried about any "omen", but rather it becomes hard to trust again. Just trying to find a place of humble trust in God that He will provide for us what we need in the way of a family.

An update. We are potentially matched with a new expectant mom. She is much more transparent and open than the previous situation, and actually is much more socially mature and stable. Would appreciate continued prayers as trusting again may be a little hard, but I feel that we can do this if it is God's will.
