• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ever since I've been old enough to understand the concept that God is omniscient, I've always felt that prayer was unnessesary, considering that God would naturally have to know everything that we wanted to tell him before we actually said it.

Consequently, I rarely pray directly to God.

Am I wrong about that? It seems pointless to me.

Putting aside that the bible says we should always pray, Praying is talking to God. Its communing with Him. God calls us to fellowship with Him. You are right in the fact God knows what youre feeling, thinking or acting before you do. still God wants us to share ourselves with Him. He loves you.

Lol i have said many times to God "I know you know this but im gonna tell you anyway" Dont miss out on praying to God and dont let the devil take it away from you. Have you ever thought that is what he is trying to do right now?

People dont realize(satan does know) that prayer from a faithful man/woman is very powerful and it is key in using the armor of God while we are in those spiritual battles. He will do anything to take that away from you, in fact He will try to take you away from Him in whole. Please do not let him do that. I say this in truth and love.

God Bless!

I have to pretty much agree with you.

When folks act like Prayer is magic (ie, lets pray for God to make you better), I wonder if they realize they are basically saying, "Hey, God -- I know you're omnipotent and omniscient and all-- but I really think you made a mistake here."

Sometimes I am in awe, and in that I guess is as close to prayer I get these days.

Prayer isn't for God's benefit, nor is it a method of divine wish making. It's a tool used to develop one's relationship with God. When we go before God with our needs it shows a measure of humility, and respect. Prayer should also be seen as a way to show Gratitude and praise for the things we do have.

It's kinda like what a ideal relationship with our parents should be like. Even though they want the best for us , and know alot of times what we need, even without asking. Our relationship with them will suffer greatly if we don't maintain steady communication with them. The same is true with your relationship with God.

Like I said, Prayer isn't for his benefit, it's for yours. When you pray you develop a strong line of communication ,and because of it you have a stronger faith and greater resolve when trials come your way. If you want to learn how to really pray ask to show you, and keep asking till he does. This is usually an invite to a trial by itself, but in the long run well worth the experience.

Check out the gospels for how many times it says Jesus spent time in prayer.
If he needed to prayer for guidence when picking the apostles, for strength for his coming trials, or just to spend time talking to Abba his dad it's good enough for me.

Christianity is all about relationship, it drives me crazy when I ask my wife how she is when her answer is "you know". It's not much of a realationship if one half doesn't spend time talking to the other half.
