  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

That's so great!

When Brea goes down for the night (and lately, she's been asking for it at naptime, too!), I pray over her. As the head of our family (my husband is deceased), I have spiritual authority over her life at this point. I choose to use that authority and as she is going to sleep, I pray a hedge of protection over my daughter. I pray for her to have sweet rest that is uninterupted by anything that the devil may send her way. I pray for her to have pleasant, God-filled dreams, and to wake refreshed in the morning...or later in the afternoon, depending when the sleep-time is!

Yes I pray with (for) each of my boys each night before bed, similar to what you said, Manna. I make it short and simple so they don't get bored and distracted (they're both under 3), but I thank God for sending us Jesus, thank him that I get to be their mommy, thank him for the things we did during the day, and ask for their protection, health, and for sweet sleep during the night. It varies.

I'm not at all into sing-song and rhyming prayers. I want my my kids to hear me having a REAL conversation with my REAL heavenly father and know that they can just talk to Him without sounding pretty or cute. I want them to learn that praying should be as natural as breathing.

BTW, I grew up reciting "Now I lay me down to sleep..." on my knees each night...it was part of my bedtime routine, and it was comforting...I just chose to take a different approach than my mom did.
