  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I haven't been here for a few days. My daughter had a terrible reaction to the pain meds she's been on. She has been in the hospital since Sunday.

If you can, please pray for Michelle.

Things don't look good right now. But I know that my God is good, and He is with her. I know He kept her from getting killed in that accident, and He will keep her now. I am putting my trust in Him and refusing to be afraid. Surely He will deliver her even out of this.

I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter's reaction to her meds. I will be praying that she is able to recover completely, very quickly from this. I will pray for your strength also.

Dear Ariel,
You and all those you love are in my prayers. Please, please, please keep us posted.
Claire

Claire, I am terrible at communicating when things are horrible. I'm sorry.

Michelle is better today. It's still very much touch and go, but she is better.

This has been a frightening experience. I have found myself pacing the hospital floors, praying and quoting Scripture out loud. It gives me comfort.

Someone told Michelle that God caused the accident to teach her something. I was horrified. What terrible theology. It is just one more thing that has made this nightmare worse than it already is.

I know my God is good.

My God is love. My God is good. No matter what happens, I still say that my God is good. I trust Him. I commit this to Him, all of it, and thank Him that He is working in even this horrible circumstance.

Thank you, all of you, for all your prayer. This morning there is again a glimmer of hope.

God is good.

No need for you to apologize, dear Ariel. I guess it's more so that it's frustrating that prayer is all I can offer, when I know how much your dear daughter and family mean to you, as mine do to me.
Pray hard, hard as you do and have for others here on this forum. And know we are praying for your daughter, and praying for your faith and strength to hold.
In deepest prayer,
:)

Update--Sunday, June 17th.

Michelle is better again!

She is hoping to go home soon. She was so ill that I dont know if they will release her yet.

She was able to see her children today for the first time in more than a week. How much she has suffered in the last two weeks. But today she got to hold her baby, play with her two-year old and talk to her four-year old.

She told me that this whole thing has seemed surreal. It has. Or maybe something like a nightmare.

But I want to report that God is enough. Even in all the horrible moments over the last two weeks, God has been enough. He was there. He is so good.

And I wanted to say thank you for all your prayers for Michelle and her family and even me. I have really felt the support of my Christian family. Thank you so much.

Dear Claire and Cindy,

It has been a tough month. First that initial phone call at about 7:00 PM Saturday, June 2. Driving to the hospital, uncertain what we would find. Realizing that we may find that our daughter was dead by the time we got there. Expecting major trauma at the very least....and praying, praying all the way there. Then at the hospital, seeing her for the first time. So thankful that there appeared to be no damage to her beautiful face or head, but realizing that she was very hurt below the neck...And then seeing that gradual recovery, coming home--and then a serious drug reaction. Once more, we realized we could lose our lovely daughter....But then four days later she began pulling out of it.

She is home now, in her own home, with her husband and children. I've been over there a lot, babysitting mostly, taking meals, etc. This last Saturday we got an SOS for help with the boys because her husband had reinjured himself and needed to lie still. So we picked up the four- and two-year olds, and kept them until their daddy thought he could negotiate with life again...

There have been times through this where I just paced a hospital floor or home or my own garden and said to myself, "God is good. No matter what happens, no matter what this looks like, I choose to trust Him. He is good." There were times when praise came with tears.

But God is good! He is so good! And Michelle and her husband Sean are getting better.

I can't even begin to express how grateful I am for the body of Christ, for the love and care and prayer you have offered as we went through this trying time. Thank you so much. It means to very much. There have been times when I've woken up at night and realized that people were praying. I could feel it.

Thank you. Thank you so very much.

God is good!

With much love,

Ariel

Thank you so much for your prayer and kind responses.

Michelle continues to heal, and once again life is becoming almost normal. She and her husband seem to be doing well now on their own and don't need as much help as before. But I'm still praying!

Through all of this we have been looking for a church. We realized even before this happened that our teens, 14 and 16, had nothing for them at our church. There was no youth group, and they seemed unable to relate to the sermons. Then this crisis.

In many ways this trial was made tougher by feeling so detached from the body of Christ here in our own city. Even though we had not yet left our own church, we did not feel like they were there for us. Instead I realized even more how much we needed to leave. But we've made it through this as well, and to God be all the glory.

Recently we found a little church where at least my 14-year-old is listening to the sermons and wants to go back. There is a youth group. He says he can feel the presence of the Lord. So can I. While my husband and I are trying to be cautious, still we can't help but feel God's presence. It feels like a warm embrace.

Our God is good, so good. I see so much good coming out of all of this, and I know it's because He is moving to help us.

Now my prayer is that my daughter and her husband will come to church with us, and feel God's comfort and love there.

I can't even begin to express in all of this what it has meant to know that others were praying. Thank you so much.

It is hard to change fellowship I have only done it once and it took me ages to readjust in the new church. We have been there now for 23 lyears and have seen many changes. I believe God will show you where you are to go. I am so glad to hear that Michelle much improved. Jan

Thank you so much, Jan.

Yes, it's tough to change churches, but I am so glad that we have. Last night we took our teens to the youth group, where they played hard and made connections with other Christian youth. I was so happy to see it.

My daughter's husband still does not feel well enough to attend church, so they did not come. I'm still praying.

My daughter has several doctor appointments coming up, so I'll be spending a lot of time babysitting again. Hopefully the tests and X-rays she is going in for will be encouraging.

I just praise God for all He has done for us. This has been a tough summer, but we are getting through it. And look at all I have to praise Him for--God is so good!

This seems like such a puny prayer request but I am having trouble not worrying about it. My hubby and I have planned and paid for a holiday out of our country. We have applied for Passport renewals but our system here is really really slow it has been 12 weeks already and they still haven't looked at our application. In the meantime I have had to send for a new birth certificate as my other one is with the pp application. If I get that in time I will be ok as the country we are going to just needs photo id and a bc. It has been 2 weeks already and I still haven't heard . We are leaving in early August. I would appreciate any prayer support you could lend me. Thanks Jan
