  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Father, I continue to join together with my sisters in prayer and say, "Amen" to their every request. Touch us, each one, dear Father! Form Your awesome character in us, and make us holy.

Father, touch all these who are hurting in their physical bodies also. We thank You that by the stripes of Jesus they are healed, and that You are with each of them.

And Father, for those who are hurting in their emotions, we pray for You to wrap Your comforting arms around them and be with them. Oh Father, help them to see You more clearly in the midst of their trials, and help them grow in You. Let them feel Your presence with them, especially when they are hurting. And Father, give them peace.

In Jesus' lovely name we pray.

Thank you so much for alerting our prayer warriors, Claire!

I pasted this from the "Chit Chat" thread so that it could all be in one place:

Sunday morning, June 3.

I wanted to tell you what God did yesterday. My daughter and her familly were in a collision in their little compact car--T-boned by an SUV traveling 70 mph, the police estimate. My daughter was in the passenger seat of the side that got hit, the four-year old in a booster seat behind her, and the baby and two-year old in car seats in back.

My daughter was injured and is in the hospital with broken ribs, a fractured pelvis, a somewhat collapsed lung and slightly lacerated liver. In spite of her injuries, she did not need surgery. Her husband is bruised but otherwise okay. The babies are fine, the four-year old lost a couple of baby teeth.

But they should have been killed, all of them. How can you get hit like that and come out with so little injury?

I believe God intervened.

I haven't been able to sleep much. I'm going up to the hospital this morning during ICU visiting hours.

If the Lord puts her on your heart, please pray for her and her family. Her husband is really shaken up.

Sunday afternoon, 12:49 PM CT.

I just got back from the hospital a little while ago. Michelle is doing better. Her eyes are less jaundiced looking, her coloring is better. She was able to have chicken broth and jello for breakfast. She's still in some pain, and didn't get much sleep because the SICU was so noisy. I asked one of the nurses who got her some earplugs. I also made sure that they understood that she is a nursing mother and could get mastitis if she is not able to pump. I mentioned that several times last night, and was finally able to get them to understand, I hope.

She will be in SICU for at least another day and a half because of the lacerated liver. They are doing blood work and keeping tabs.

On the praise side--she does not need surgery. Her pelvis is broken in three places, but not broken all the way through, and not terribly displaced. It's painful, and she won't be able to walk for six weeks, but praise God again that it is not worse.

I just keep on thinking how God intervened. How could they have survived, except for God? They were driving a little 2002 Ford Focus, and got broadsided by an SUV going 70 MPH on a major highway. That intersection is dangerous and has a history of horrible accidents because there's a curve in the road and a dip that keeps each driver from seeing the other. That's what happened last night. The driver who hit them didn't even slow down.

Update, Sunday evening, June 3.

It is now 27 hours since the accident. I saw Michelle this afternoon. She is definitly mending! When I walked into the SICU, her husband and father-in-law were feeding her her first solid food. Of course I quipped what a handsome pair of waiters she had waiting on her, and she smiled.

She is now able to get up to a 45 degree angle while sitting in bed. All her stats are good, no sign of a liver bleed, and she is able to manage the pain better with a different medication and a pain pump.

Her husband was on his feet! Up to now, even this morning, he was in too much pain for anything but a wheelchair. But now he was standing!

Michelle's father-in-law had gone over to the wrecked car to retrieve personal items. He said it was a wonder that anyone survived, given the fact that the whole side and roof had been smashed in. He kept remarking that her head and neck are completely unscratched. How, he wondered, could that have happened.

It was God, it could have only been God.

Thank you so much, everyone for praying. I so much appreciate it.

btw, a little more than an hour after Michelle's accident, there was another accident in the same place, involving four vehicles including an 18-wheeler. That is a dangerous intersection, and apparently the county has known this for years.

Perhaps we could pray that something will be done about it? Thank you so much.

Much love to all,

Ariel

Michelle's husband Sean moved back in with his parents, who also live in town. That way he could still be with his kids but get the help he needed.

I wanted to take at least the baby, but realized I couldn't because I also wanted to be with Michelle as much as possible. Instead, I've been running errands for Sean. Today I took the four-year-old to the dentist because he lost two baby teeth in the accident. Praise God, his permanent teeth are okay, still up in the gums and completely whole.

It seems to be working out. Sean says he wants to be with his children, I can understand that, and his parents are giving him the help he needs.

My daughter was moved to a regular hospital room, so I stayed with her a good bit today.

I imagine you are in the best place you can be, by your daughter's side as much as possible. I know that's what I would want. But things seem to be working out for all of you and that's wonderful news. Still, you are all in our prayers, Ariel.
Keep us in the know.

I totally agree with Clairefish, Ariel. You are where you need to be. Your daughter really needs you. How wonderful that you can be there! How wonderful also that the babies are being well cared for by their other grandma! Please keep us posted (in your spare time! ha!)

Your prayers are dearly requested for my friend Chris
Chris befriended me on another site in 2000
and has been a really nice friend ever-since

This morning in a message he enquired after my well-being and then informed me that he has had
a ball removed (due to a seminoma) and is now looking at 'focussed radiation treatment'
over consecutive days (weekends off ! )

He talks of INCREASED SURVIVAL CHANCES

I am going to tell him that I am going praying
for his total recovery
Will pray, the Lord Jesus has empowered surgeons
to remove cells damaged by Satan successfully
and permanently

Chris lives fairly near to my lady Mary
and I have told him we will meet soon
he has said that he would love-to meet me also

Dear Brothers and Sisters
please hold Chris up in your prayers

that his op and radiation treatment and Jesus' Mercy will lead to Chris' full recovery

A praise report--my daughter went home today!

She'll be in a wheelchair for a while. But, oh how I praise God for His every blessing!
Ariel!
This is wonderful news! I would imagine that she was VERY happy to go home! That is terrific. We will keep praying.
