  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It must be very stressful for you being the only female in the mix as well I am sure you do the lions share of the household chores. At least that is how it is in my home. I still have 3 sons at home but PTL my husband and two are working and the third is disabled and on a small pension and cared for during the day. I am blessed. I will certainly pray for God's very best for you and for patience and peace as you wait for the fulfillment of His perfect plan. I have always loved this verse it may speak to your heart as well.

Jer 29:11For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

PS you may want to claim this verse for your boys. God doesn't want them on the scrap heap either.

Thank you so much .. actually somebody gave me that verse years ago - and for a long time, it did seem that I had a future and a hope...it's just at the moment (especially as I'm getting older, though I know I'm not THAT old), it's hard too see that I DO have a future and a hope.
THank you everyone for your support. :)

I know I've asked about this situation before, but could I again prevail on you guys & gals for prayer regarding my husband's job and our financial situtation? For those of you that may not know or remember, my husband works for an architecture firm and architecture is one of the businesses that have been hard hit by the recession.

As I previously shared, they all had to take 20% pay cuts for the time being and they have laid off 17 people out of about 53. We are thankful that my husband still has a job, but I know he was up in the middle of the night worrying about the continuing threat of lay off if their business doesn't turn around. As Christians, we know we should have faith and trust God in the middle of all this, but frankly it's tough. We've both been through lay offs in the past and the Lord took care of us remarkably well. Somehow it's scarier, however, when you're almost 55, like my husband is, however. I'm sure you know what I mean. Could you please pray for us? I guess I would just like to ask you to pray for continued provision and peace in the midst of the storm. Thanks.

Your intentions will be in my prayers KayKay, and all who have previously posted ~

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us, and increase Your mercy in us, so that in difficult moments we might not despair, nor become despondent, but with great confidence, submit ourselves to Your Holy Will, which is Love and Mercy itself. Amen (St Faustina ~ Divine Mercy Prayer)

This verse was comforting to me today: Though I walk in the midst of trouble. You will revive me. Ps 138:7a ... and I read Spurgeon's comments on it...sometimes our troubles are just beyond human wisdom...lol...that took some pressure off of me, I don't have to figure everything out.

The verse continues to say: You will stretch out Your hand against the wrath of my enemies. And Your right hand will save me.
The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; do not forsake the work of Your hands. Ps 138:7b-8.

Lord You see every heart, every situation and You are not dismayed nor weighed down by our trials...yet You care and are full of compassion and mercy...I personally pray for the faith and insight to see You better thru Your word...and feed off Your faithfulness.
Lord You will revive us...You will keep us with Your power, we are facing very uncertain times...but You are certain...Your word is very sure...I pray for breakthoughs for many suffering saints...mercies that will reveal Your personal care for each saint and for joy to shine forth in hard times Lord.

Sorry to be a nuisance but could I ask for prayer again please :)? I began to get better during the week, but a comment by a cyber-friend (not this site) has caused me severe distress today. I feel so guilty, for things I can't possibly be guilty of (I'm not talking about conviction of sin) and feel I can't appease God for having been born. I suspect this is a throw-back to being relinquished from my birth-mother etc. I'm still missing my (adopted) parents so much too. Life has been very hard over the last eleven or twelve years, and I lost my twenties to depression as well. I know things will get better because God has promised it, and I suspect He is allowing this in order to heal me, but I have no help and don't know what to do other than keep bringing it before Him.

Thank you very much  .

Sue, I am off to bed now, but I wil include you in my prayers
that you will gain access to His armour
and be protected from the words of man [for, all men are liars ??]
Psalm 23

Psalm 23 (New International Version)

Psalm 23

A psalm of David.

1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,

3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.

4 Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death, [a]
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.

6 Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.

amen

Thank you Dave and kaykay  . Both of those posts are lovely, and I'm beginning to feel better already. I really wish I could feel God's love, and I don't know what the "block" is. I see it with financial provision (which I hope encourages those who are finding it difficult with the credit crunch; I can testify to His miraculous provision) but find it harder to see on emotional issues.

Continuing to pray for other needs.
