  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We have had two apartment fires in our city in the last two weeks. Three were killed in the first one. I think everyone got out ok in the second but many are without a home. Jan

Jan, I am so sorry to hear this. I will pray for these and their families.

Just an update~ Thanks for praying for my friend's father in Arizona who was near death a couple of weeks ago. He pulled through (is battling cancer) and is home now!:clap::clap: Please continue to pray, however, for this man to come to know the Lord.

Thanks for your prayers for him a couple of weeks ago!

Prayer does change things. Our lives are testify to that. Let us continue praying for one another!

So very true. How many times have we had something seemingly awful take a turn for the better, and we fail to realize that so many people were praying for us, and there had to be power in that prayer?
That's as good a time as any to offer up more prayer, that of thanks.
We have a very strong prayer chain here in the GE forum. It's been going for many years, too, and weathered many storms and changes. Some of the links may come and go, but the catalyst reigns on forever.
And HE IS SO GOOD TO US!

Okay, why DID you write that?
I wrote that, as most people (un-aware of such matters of mind),
assume that "when one can't Focus for months, it must mean a need  for glasses, or even a stronger prescription".
But based on plenty experience to the contrary, I know an entirely-different reality is possible, as well as also having helped other people Positively either re-frame, or entirely also change, their realities.

Being aware of, and knowing how to change, I was able to RID myself of glasses altogether  -
Alas, whenever we assume "those circumstantial adversities" are getting the better of me", then
For such of us, whose preferred Rep-system is *visual*, one can also notice... it affecting, adversely eyesight too.
Seeing (or not) matters, alot. -

For instance, while practicing my *iceskating...*,
on days my mind decides upping the ante, by having each eye focus at different ^_^ distances:
1. the R-eye placing the ice surface, 2-feet closer, than it actually is.
2. the L-eye placing the ice surface, as if I was on the roof ^_^ of the arena.
That may not matter to anybody else here, they may not *care* one iota;
but evidently it matters a great deal to me, a developing... Skater

So, how I've learned to deal with that, is by telling my mind "Hey, failure is not an option, anymore here than anywhere else. And I WANT to learn this (whatever) skill, and by the grace of GOD, I will succeed. so PLEASE return the Correct focus now, so I can continue enjoying my fun... here".
And within a few minutes, it does *Self-correct*.

However, once OFF the ice, it often reverts back; so when I drive, I rely on "glasses" :o; which by now, can you see how ridiculous that is. Ridiculous, because I have never skated with my glasses on; yet 95% of the time, they work just fine while I'm FOCUSING on *fun*.

Thus I continue praying  for my MIND to FOCUS its eyes, regardless
of what "circumstantial" challenges may present. So, does anybody here *care*??

Would you like to also pray  with me to succeed in this endeavor... for to PRAISE !!! GOD. ~ Annie

My prayer request is for a couple who lost their young son yesterday to an unexpected tragedy. Please pray for them.

My heart and prayers go out to the young parents. I can only imagine the pain they must feel. Words are sometimes so empty, and I wish I could do something more, but I will pray for some kind of comfort to eventually come over them. In the meanwhile, I will also cry for their sad loss.

My husband & I lost our own son 6 years ago in a freak car accident so I well know the pain of that. I will certainly be praying.

I just pray that the Lord will comfort them in their pain and loss and that He will somehow bring redemption out of what is an incredible tragedy.

The most important question for me in your post was: "Does ANYBODY care?"

Usually we write things on forums like this hoping that someone will notice and "care" or "complain" or praise or somehow simply "take notice" that WE, the writers, exist.

Man is born a very selfish creature. At birth the selfishness is there as a survival mechanism but as we grow we learn that certain ways of acting accomplish things which feel good to us and satisfy us beyond our NEEDS. Our selfishness for survival moves to the point where it has the additional purpose of pleasing ME. In this learning process we also find that some people really do care for us, usually our natural parents and later some few others.

On the other side of the coin, we begin to care about others. This is seemingly opposed to the extreme selfishiness of the newborn, but isn't it rather more to God's purpose which is on the other side?

Let us GIVE love, instead of always searching for it:

"Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

This is the first and great commandment.

And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." Matt 22:37

And the result should be a complete unselfishness in us:

"Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves." Phil 2:3

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matt 6:33

Perhaps we should all ask ourselves: "Do I care about others and what they do and what they say? Do I pay attention to them and their needs and desires? Do I listen to or read what they are saying or am I too wrapped in ME?"

May God help us all!

I am praying now for Annie's eyes, both the natural ones and the spiritual ones. I am also praying for her efforts to become a skater that she might accomplish God's perfect will in this in her! I am praying that she will be able to focus exactly the way that He would have her to focus and to see just as clearly as He would have her to see. I am praying also for her natural and spiritual ears that she might hear not only the words of other people, but also the Word of God.

I pray also the same prayer for the eyes and ears of me and of each person who reads these words. Our God is able. All we have to do is trust Him!

"I invite you to join me in fervent prayer for those who have lost their lives in the world recently due to various disastors. Let us remain spiritually close to the people suffering from such devastating calamity; and we implore God to grant them relief in their suffering." "O Lord, give support to all those involved in meeting the immediate needs of the victims.'"
