  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My mother is 93 (in less than a month) and is in a nursing home in New Jersey and the home is now being hit by the virus on all floors and wings. It is no longer well contained in her home. last week she began to get sick and developed a fever late in the week. They have tested her for COVID-19 and we are awaiting the results now.
Please say a prayer for not only my mother, but all the elderly in nursing homes in the New Jersey/New York area.

Dear Father, we pray for your healing, comfort and protection from this virus. For strength, a shield and provision for all in this home. Send your angels to protect all the elderly in nursing homes in the New Jersey/New York area.

Lord, we know you are in control of even this pandemic. We ask you for your grace and mercy, undeservedly, to cover those with this virus, those near it and those in fear of it. Bring peace and comfort to all, patient, family and medical team members. Remove this virus and heal our land. In Jesus name, Amen!

I'm so sorry to hear that. I know that NYC and NJ are getting hit the hardest. I have family and friends in that area and they all know someone who has been affected by this terrible disease.
I will ask God to be merciful to your Mom and everyone in her nursing home and to protect them all.

She is almost 1/2 through her 2nd week with it now. She is often very disoriented and not able to have any kind of conversation with me, still I call her many times a day so she can at least hear my voice if not respond. Monday her nursing home had 46 confirmed cases (alive), 11 staff with the virus and 20 had died. They say that if she lives through week 2 that her odds increase a bit each day. It is pins and needles! Thank you all for the prayers.

Mom is about 19 days into it now. Past the 2 week mark so her odds improve each day. She may make her 93rd birthday and mother's day next week.
As of Monday her nursing home had 83 confirmed cases and 23 deaths from it. :( I pray for those people and families.
