  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I had to go to see the rheumatologist early (today), due to my hands swelling, burning and numbness. I now have the diagnosis of arthritis along with the fibro. My dr is not sure which type I have yet. But the drug he gave me is for rheumatoid arthritis (I checked on the net).

I fear I talk too much about ailments around here. Sometimes I just need to let it out. Sorry if it's too often.

Emotionally, I feel pretty good. Anyway, thanks for listening. :)

Hope you are doing well, Kae. What you have is surely no fun either. May God bless you, my friend.

That's ok, I've probably gotten too personal about my husband here too.

You are fine. Arthritis is yucky, especially on top of fibro. Lots of prayers coming your way.

Kae - you too.

Taking Monday off work. Yippee!! If all goes well, we'll be a Waiting Family. What does that mean? What do you think? I'll also find out the estimated wait hopefully.

Here's the scary part. The last month or so of updates from the agency have been showing only infants being referred. So, either there are no slightly older siblings, or there are no people asking for slightly older siblings. What if it's the latter??? Uh oh. Better get working on the kids' room.

Happy Days, Flipper! When my parents adopted my older brother, they requested to be put back on the list for a little girl knowing that it would probably be years before they got to the top again. Heh, 6 months later Mom got a call that they had a little girl, would she and Dad be interested? I came home the next day. :) So you never know what God has planned....

Seajoy! GAH on the RA possible diagnosis. Sweetie, I'm always praying! Some days I think that God just loves us MORE than everyone else. ;) (those whom He loves he chastenith)

Hi everyone.

Just found out that my Grandma (Jo Wiefering) had a stroke on Saturday. She was in the hospital for vertigo and her tests came back today. She's devastated about this because she's lost vision in her left eye and the doctors say she'll never drive again. She's an extremely active 88 year old (almost 89...she'll be 89 on the 25th) and something like this is just going to kill her.

That is awesome! We went up there and found out that there is some more paperwork we have to do, and a class we didn't know about that we have to take. At least we know now and can do it.

Yep! She's a feisty one, my Grandma. She's home from the hospital and is at my parent's house. They're going to start looking at assisted living apartments for her. She agrees that it's getting to be too much for her, keeping her house and everything.

The plus is, our church has an assisted living building next door that we started. (It's now run by GraceWorks) Hopefully there will be an opening there for her soon! She'll be close by, be able to attend an LCMS church like she wants to do (instead of the ELCA church that is nearer to her. Thanks K and the cronies for making it possible for her former "Pastor" to sell the church out from under the older members and relocating it out in the "country" and making it a nondenom-ish type of "lcms" church.)

Anyway, she's doing well and I'll be heading off to see her tonight.

Thanks everyone for the prayers! She REALLY appreciates them!

Thank you. I'm trying to have a good attitude about it, but the more I think about it the more angry I get. For three months, while waiting for the I-171H, I've been sending e-mails asking if there is anything else we have to do. Then we get there and are told that we were supposed to have taken a basic parenting class at one of the hospitals, and we were supposed to have gone over this book about transracial adoption (We took the 10 hour parenting-the-adopted-child course that is required for the dossier - that's not what I'm talking about). Our social worker had told us that the separate classes that we took at the agency, along with the 10 hour course, was good enough as far as the basic class goes. The basic classes that hospitals give was just a recommendation to do at some point and the book was just an internal thing with the agency that we could do after the dossier is turned in. Last month, we were reassigned to someone else, who is saying that we always had to have that parenting class done before the dossier. So now we have to scramble to get a whole day parenting class and some other things done ASAP.

DH and I think our original social worker got to know us pretty well during the home study and was just going to sign off on it all, and our current person is just more of a stickler.

No one said it would be easy and I completely understand that these things need to be done and we intended to do them. I just wish they would have let us know we had to do them before the dossier, back when we were waiting for that thing from the federal government. We could have done it then. Fortunately I found a class that meets in a couple of weeks - I have a call out to make sure it will be acceptable to the agency. If that one doesn't work, I found another at our local community college that meets in December. We just don't want to wait that long.

Prayers for Flipper & Mr. Flipper and the soon-to-be-Little-Flippers. Been there, done that. "Paper pregnancies" can be stressful, and take longer than biological pregnancies. But then comes that wonderful day when you finally get to hold your babies for the first time.

Happy Birthday and recovery prayers for Kae's grandmother.

A co-worker on my team is close to the family affected by this:

http://www.bnd.com/breaking_news/story/529163.html

While this story is horrible and tragic, there is a lot left out in order to protect two young witnesses to this tragedy - which makes this an even bigger tragedy. I don't want to say more because I don't want this to be found in a search. Just please, prayers for everyone involved, especially the young witnesses - one had to be hospitalized tonight for grief care. The child saw the whole thing, and was the one who called 911.

This terrible.
The amazing part to me were the rather insensitive comments by some of the people afterwards.
I pray for the kids and people involved.

The story already disappeared from my local paper and the comments there made the comments you read sound tame. Wizard's First Rule, Ed (a gold star to anyone who knows what that is). :(

BTW, the children I'm talking about are not the children of the couple, not that the don't need prayers, they most definitely do. The kids I'm talking about are relatives that were visiting and are considerably younger than the couple's kids. A lot of people are needing prayers after this.

What would I do without Wikipedia?

I would have just settled for "People are stupid." Gold star for you.

The TV series Legend of the Seeker, that comes from the Sword of Truth books written by Terry Goodkind started on November 1. That's where the phrase comes from. It's in the first book.

I'll find out more about the kids today.
