Thanks for the prayers. We lost. We were expecting it. It was a simple case, but had some complications that the jury couldn't get around. It's a shame because I wish all our clients were like the guy we were representing and his wife. Good Christian people.
Kae - I swear by Weight Watchers. At almost every meeting, a dedicated member is saying they were told by their doctor they don't have to take their diabetes medicine, blood pressure medicine or cholesterol medicine anymore. For you, it's especially good if you do the Core Plan. It's sort similar to the South Beach Diet in that it encourages carbs from whole grains, but not nearly as restrictive. The Core has certain foods you can eat as much as you want until you are full. Those include milk, just about all fruits and vegies, whole grains, and lean meat. If you go off the Core, you just count points and you get so many points per week.
The South Beach Diet isn't as bad, but I'm leery of any low carb diet, even as a diabetic. When you cut out too much carbs and add in too much protein, you get ketones in your urine (bad) it can lead to ketoacidosis (coma, death) - which as a diabetic you are already suceptible to.
I know with diabetes, carbs are an issue, but with Type II, you are still producing insullin, but just not as well as you need - and even if you get it under control and your A1Cs normal, you will have this the rest of your life. The drugs your doctor will give you don't give you insullin, it just makes your pancreas produce it better. An all around nutritious diet and exercise will keep your pancreas from working so hard, so it doesn't get worse.
Praying!
