  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

precursor,"don't grill me because of my selfish prayer. Or don't read it."

I basically ask for a attractive woman with a large chest and thin tummy who is also a steadfast Christian, and for God to find the right one who will be good for me.

I want all my children to be Christian, so my wife *needs* to be Christian.

My wife doesn't need to be super attractive, but I want to be honest with God with what I want and maybe he'll provide. My wife being attractive is like the only selfish thing I pray for.

If you want my other prayers, I'll list them too. I assure you they're not selfish like this one could seem to some.

Pray that the partner's top priority is Jesus (this should flow on to being loving, kind, patient, considerate of others), pray that God will protect and guide the partner in her struggles, that she'll be able to grow in Christ and that others can see it, that she'll be willing to serve God and others.

Pray that my top priority is Jesus, that I may be patient and be observant as I wait, that I'll be built up towards the character of a godly man (being willing to take the lead and initiative, take responsibility, have a servant leadership attitude), that I'll seek a partner for the right reasons, that I'll be humble and gentle, that I'll trust God.

I think my fear is in seeing someone to be a potential partner, opening up the idea of dating/courtship with her and then getting rejected about it and having our original relationship awkward or ruined.

"Lord, please lead me to all those who you want me to know in my life
that I might be a good witness for You oh my Lord

and if it be Your will, lead me to the woman I am ment to be with.
Your holy word says that it is not good for man to be alone"

i also ask for the archangel St.Raphael to pray for me, God used the archangel to lead Tobias to Sarah

It varies for me. Typically I ask stuff like "Move her forward in your plans for her life," "bind our hearts together as if we were already married" (part of this is asking to put a deep commitment in us to keep ourselves pure, and reminded that the other one will appear eventually), I pray in tongues, and sometimes I ask God for something specific to pray about for her, and then write down that specific thing in a prayer journal, so that one day when she sees it, she can check the dates and see if she was ever going through any of those things on those days. I don't do this last thing as much any more, because other prayer concerns have come onto my plate, but it's a nice thought. And of course sometimes some things get added and others get taken off the prayer list for her. I'm not jumping at the bit to get married right away, and my eyes are still satisfied with the adventures that lie in front of me, so marriage isn't really that big of an issue for me atm.

Depends.
If I am praying about it, it is for their protection and guidance in their life. And I pray that God's will will be done regardless and that if there isn't someone there for me, that I can accept that and love Him just the same:)

I know that if I am going to marry, than I don't need to pray for things like how they look, etc. God will bring me the right person and I just pray that I am ready and that He would show me how we can keep Him first.

Would anyone be willing to share the prayer that they say to the Lord in regards to a receiving a partner into their life?
Mine lately are along the lines of soon Lord soon and taking the first step towards a relationship. I feel like if I could get into a relationship I may have more of a chance of moving forward to the possibility of marriage. And in that relationship

someone who is able to make mistakes
loves the Lord their God and walks in it
sees friendship/fellowship as the starting basis
leans towards being green in lifestyle choices
and that we'd both learn from one another and encourage

I used to pray.....still I wasn't getting what people would call "good women". I was still being too often attracted to women who were abusive or at least manipulative. So I stopped.

And nothing changed.

And then I realized that this sort of prayer doesn't work, or at least for me.

I hope I do not sound overly pushy, but maybe you should remember the parable of the widow and the unjust judge

another thing to keep in mind is that you ask that Gods will be done and only ask for things "if they please Christ"

I think you doubt my patience....it runs strong, and I have been waiting for years. There has been a lot of pain on the way....and pretty much just pain. I should be Leo's posterboy for "bitter men", but I try to keep a good face on because I know someday I won't be dating a woman who is cheating or me or doing something dishonest against me. Someday. :)

And far be it from I to make such a presumption but I think that Christ would be pleased by me settling down with a woman, because it would seriously cut down on my sinning. Dead serious. He delights in good, not in evil.

I am very glad to hear that you are not bitter, it is a shame that you have had such bad luck with dishonest women

oh yes, He delights in good.
I am just kind of weird when it comes to presumption, like that is something i worry about, probably too much, so many of my prayers sound "weak" but are really with deep conviction and yearning
oh well, we each have our own style
hope i did not sound condescending or anything

Yeah I'm pretty sure God hates me sometimes, so it's kind of a "whatever" experience periodically.

Prayer just doesn't seem to do much at times. :( Sad story, a man who is barely getting his prayers from months ago! My mother prays for me every day and every day is like the last. And people wonder why there's doubters in the world.

Brother, a God who sent his one and only son to die for our sins on the cross does not hate us :)

It's never easy, but trust in the power of prayer. Some people say that having a prayer journal helps us in realising how God DOES answer our prayers in time. Sometimes its what we expect, sometimes its not. But God always knows whats best.

I pray that God would prepare a godly woman for me as a future wife - someone who is right for me that we may mutually encourage each other in our walk with God, pulling each other up; that He would bring her into my life in His time (and that God's time will not be far off; that when I finally meet her, God would make it obvious to me; that God would give me patience to wait; that God would prepare me to be a good husband to her.

I've never prayed for a partner, never felt the inclination and I feel such prayers distract me from really praising and appreciating everything He has already done for me. I do pray for those who are truly troubled by their singleness, mostly that they find some sort of peace whether that is with a partner or coming at ease with finding themselves.
