  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

So my grandmother may be dying. She's 95 (her bday is in August).

The thing is, I think sometimes we have the misconception that the really elderly are ready to die, or give up, or better able to accept death. My GM is none of these things. We're talking about a woman who just flew from Des Moines to SC and back so she could celebrate her great grandchildren's bdays. I know she's scared to die. Mom told me that GM has panic attacks at night...she fears not waking up. :(

The other hard thing about this is that GM has been sick like this before and has always pulled through. She's a tough cookie and that's fantastic, but sometimes it's easy to be lulled into a false sense of security. My mom knows that eventually GM will die, but currently she expects her to get better, because GM always gets better.

Anyway, if you could keep them both along with the rest of my family in your prayers I'd be grateful.

Thank you. :)

Grandma is out of the hospital now and at home. It appears she has recovered although I'm afraid to get my hopes up.

She is an amazing woman.
Glad to hear that she's back at home!:)

Continuing prayers that she may feel God's comfort and assurance:prayer:

DH just had a preliminary job interview. It's the first interview he has had after applying for 9 jobs. Apparently it went very well. If he were to get the job we would have to move.
Of course for us to even consider a move I would also have to get a job in the same area.
I really don't want to move, for many many reasons, not the least of which is that I am not sure DH is emotionally ready for another position like he had before. Plus the kids and I have enjoyed having Daddy around more. And lastly, DH's mom lives in the area we would move to. Ordinarily this would be great - and is great as far as the kids are concerned - but she is not stable and I truly fear her having too much involvement with my family. DH's mental condition always seems aggravated when he spends much time around her. Yet, as I type this I am eager to follow God wherever he may send us.
Please keep us in your prayers.

Thank you guys. We have not heard anything more - if this is going to happen I think we should probably find out something today or tomorrow.
I have 3 applications in and have been asked to interview for 2 positions, which is great for but hard for DH at the same time. I'll keep you posted.
