  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Recently,

I received that faith by alone we are saved. I am absolutely convinced that we are saved by grace through faith without legalism. I am also very passionate about John Wesley's instantaneous conversion. The moment you believe and call upon the name of the Lord for God to save you, to receive the assurance "shall be saved."

I have peace in my heart about being a United Methodist elder in a congregation.

However, I am also tempted to go into the military as a chaplain; for security, so that I can pay off my stuff even faster.

Even though I love the military, I am at peace about being an elder in a congregation as a United Methodist. I do not want to go in the military just to be "well off." I want to trust God, go where he calls me.

Please pray that I receive some financial help so that I can be objective about the choice of whether to go the congregational pastor or military chaplain route. I want to pick it because it is what God wants, not because I think I will be more comfortable.

Thank You Much
Greg (Holyroller125)

HR125,
Praying for you.

Also, please realize that there are many Wesleyan congregations, not only UMC, that are in need of Pastors that will accept UMC Ordained ministers.

Also, the US military really, REALLY, needs Wesleyan doctrine Chaplains. They are few and far between.

A friend of mine will be homeless and without kids by the end of the month if can't come up with $2500. I am really upset. Pray for God to intervene in a big way, for me to have wisdom and for God to lead people to give to help him.

Praying for your friend and this situation. :(

Let's continue to remember each other daily here in Wesley's Parish and for each others local congregations and denominations (and all the body of Christ for that matter). Each of us comes from different places and backgrounds - but each of us are disciples of Jesus Christ working for the same goal and that is for us to go out into the world and make disciples of Jesus for the transformation of the world!

Gods4Life4Ever, I don't understand Patric7olicoe's post either.

But I do notice that it is exactly the same as the first line of the opening post for this thread. I wonder if maybe she was reading or starting to quote and then accidently posted without getting what she wanted to pray about written? Stranger things have happened to me with the way my browser acts up sometimes. Given that she's a newbie I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt on this one.

Patric7olicoe, yes, we can and do have a prayer chain. You're in it. Lots of people come through here, see a prayer request and do just that -- pray. We may post as well, but more often we just read and pray.

And, of course, if you have a prayer request, we encourage you to post. People will be praying for you.

My aunt Joy found out that she has a 5.5 cm tumor on her kidney. She was treated for lymphoma last year so I am assuming that this new mass is from that but they are going to test it to see if it is cancerous or not. My aunt also had a stroke 1.5 years ago, lost hearing in one ear after having a cold at Christmas and is having problems with dizziness. She recently broke her wrist when she just put it on the mattress while trying to kill a bug. The scan showed missing bone in that area for some inexplicable reason. Neither the bone doctor nor the oncologist wants to do anything until the other one does something first to see what is the deal with her bones. The family is not taking this well.

And then on top of this, I still have not heard from my severely depressed friend about the status of his custody battle or anything in his life. Yesterday was his son's birthday so he is weighing heavily on my mind.

With these two things I am a mess.

I'm glad it was only benign Maid Marie and i hope you have heard off your friend by now.

I wish to send my thoughts and prayers out to the families in Cambodia who through the work of charities and via the teachings about God and Jesus are learning to get themselves out of poverty.
