CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Peanut Buttery Member.
This is why I'm predominately painting still-life at the moment. The more skills I develop the LESS I want to paint from a photo. I need to start setting myself up plein-air properly. At least then I can capture a motion drawing, slap down the camera-blind values/colours AND take a photo.
Still-life IS my favourite subject however. So I'm not complaining.

That is the way to approach painting from life, you are on the correct path. Photos are better useful after one has a good bit experience painting from life. So they will not just out right and copy the photo.
You may enjoy Sammy Britt's work he live about an hour form me and has been at a long time. He studied with Henry Hensche. All his work is from life, some of his drawing may have used a photo reference.
