That looks nice. I'm sure they were Grand when they were there with nice trunks.Speaking of cypress trees - I visited my brother a few weeks ago in the hill country. He has his own property over there, and took me to a secret swimming hole in the nearby river. Usually the river this time of year is hardly a foot deep in most places. But this spot was so deep you could go diving, and was beautiful. Hardly anyone was there, and there were majestic, old cypress trees lining it.
I didn't get pics of the trees or that area of the river, but this was another part of the river during a neighbor's fourth of July party. You can see trunks of cypress tress that were there once before.

Sounds interesting. Also the myths and such. When I lived in Japan there was unfortunately a place called suicide forest. I heard some horror stories of ghosts they saw when they were there. Also I lived on an island in the south of Japan that was next to yakashima. It's a world heritage site that has trees thousands of years old that's called yakisugi. It was so fascinating, I went there more than one time since I lived in that area for 3 years. There were monkeys and waterfalls there too.15-20 minutes drive from home is Cannock Chase, a very large forest covering a vast area. It is one of those places you can walk for a very long time without meeting a single person. Cutting through the forest are many paths and diversions and, even with a good map, it is so easily to get lost. Thankfully we managed to navigate our way through the labyrinth of footpaths and trails using our GPS signal. At least in these parts, the mobile reception is pretty good!
The forest has somewhat a very spooky reputation with its many myths and legends, but most people do not take them seriously. The stories do however make a good camp-side fire tale as they certainly excite the imagination!
There are many places on high ground offering far reaching views for many miles.
And on a hot day such as today, the canopy of over-towering trees provides welcome relief and shade from the soaring heat.

Running is definitely not for everyone. It does take a mental fortitude. As it took me 15 minutes to catch my breath and get any kind of rhythm on this last run. Also I don't run for time. So it was probably an hour and a half to two hours of running. I stop to take pictures, but towards the end of my run I was really regretting it because it was really hard to start back up again. I try to mentally build off of my past experiences to push me forward. And of course the long-term goal of being able to run on my 70s. Which means I have to prevent injury. Thanks for the encouragement. I really do enjoy getting out and seeing things. It's my way of cheap travel... Also if I am traveling somewhere I like to run there, it makes me feel more part of the locale, instead of just a tourist.A nice locale for a run I'm sure. ^-^
I would love to get into long distance jogs myself. But it's difficult in this climate, plus I don't have the stamina.
