Nice socks the green really jumps with the shoes. You must have some 80's in you.
It's funny you mention that. I grew up in the '80s but have resisted pretty much going back to any styles from then. I don't have very good memories of the '80s. I never got that much into the neons except for maybe one shirt with some neon pink stripes. Or the jelly bracelets when I was in junior high school. It was a box of multicolor socks that looked like they would be good for my work boots that I ordered from amazon. No intention of looking for neon, it just kind of happened. And unfortunately the new jeans I ordered kind of rise high so it even shows off the socks more, haha. So it's almost like I have dork pants, with brightly colored socks and big feet. I can sort of laugh about it, because I think I can pull it off and still look okay.

That's pretty neat! I've been noticing around the office environment a lot more supervisors or guys wearing brightly colored shoes like that. Gals in the office environment don't do that so much.. but athletic leisure is probably common with the 20ish crowd.

Yeah, they really come in handy when out and about on my bike.

Plus, who knows, maybe they'll catch the eye of a woman!

I thought you were near the 80's in your younger years. I was right there in the middle of it (class of 83) i just remember the bright colors back then. I did not so much fall into the fashion (except for the colored shorts) but it was colorful.

I would not want to go back, but as i look back sometimes (especially any 80's movies) i like the simpler time. How we made fun out of just simple things.

Oh no! Those shorts should be burned. I graduated in 1991. But being from the Midwest, so far behind the times. East Coast and West Coast definitely were a step ahead. In high school I had actually planned to go into fashion merchandising but went in the Army instead. I shocked everyone. I wore mostly black and white in high school. I liked high fashion for dresses, skater style for casual and definitely had some big hair, but I still have my own style that was different.

I was in the same position being in Mississippi. We were always the last at knowing whats new. But in a way we were in our own little world entertaining ourselves. The basic attire was blue jeans and some kind of shirt like an izod, the polo shirt, t shirt or just a button down, plaid was popular then. I remember tight rolling blue jeans

You must have just missed desert storm

Was out today (in the country and woods) looking for possible landscape scenes for paintings and took a few photos.

Came across a few wild turkeys, they did not stay around to long but was able to get a few pictures.

Did an 8.5 mile run out to a fairgrounds and around it and back. Caught a beautiful deer just sitting in someone's yard. The fairgrounds is really muddy. We've had quite a bit of rain and I had to wait for an hour or a storm to pass.View attachment 302253 View attachment 302254 View attachment 302255

I like how the deer is just there chillin' in a suburban setting, like being this much closer to human society than normal ain't no thang for her. ^_^

Also, cute shoes, Miss Sampa.

I felt the same about the deer. I just had to stop my run to snap a picture. I mean it's one thing if it's just wide open space, but this was somebody's front yard and nice lush lawn. I got video of the deer getting up and cocking its head wondering what to do, and then eventually sprinting off towards the woods. But I think that media is maybe too large for this. Or I haven't figured out how to upload it here.
Thanks for the compliment on the shoes. They have been doing good for my feet. The girl I've been training off and on with and she's doing a full Marathon, her feet are pretty beat up.

I like the trees. It reminds me of one I came across today that is a type of pine tree usually in southern swamps.

Those trees in the photo i posted are water tupelo's

The trees in your photo are cypresses i am almost sure that they are a bald cypress and not a pond cypress. They are my favorite tree, the wood is beautiful, a great wood to use.

A bald cypress can get huge in the trunk not so tall but around the base of the trunk they can be really big.

Thanks for letting me know. It's rather exotic to see these kinds of trees in this area. Because of the cold weather that we get here. But we do have a lot of lakes and marshland and such, which is what I think they thrive in. The wood is beautiful. That's the reason I'm fascinated by it. I wonder what they make out of it for furniture or other things. It doesn't seem like a good wood for burning.

Cypress is used for furniture, floors, walls a lot of uses (but right it is not used for fire wood). Pecky cypress is really prized. Here is facebook page of a person who has a small lumber mill not far from me.

This is gorgeous. I wonder if it would be pricey. I could see it making a nice coffee table :) Actually I wonder if it could be post for a porch or something. I was at someone's lake house that they used trees on their back deck or a swing.

Speaking of cypress trees - I visited my brother a few weeks ago in the hill country. He has his own property over there, and took me to a secret swimming hole in the nearby river. Usually the river this time of year is hardly a foot deep in most places. But this spot was so deep you could go diving, and was beautiful. Hardly anyone was there, and there were majestic, old cypress trees lining it.

I didn't get pics of the trees or that area of the river, but this was another part of the river during a neighbor's fourth of July party. You can see trunks of cypress tress that were there once before.

The pecky cypress can run expensive, now what is popular is leaving the edge as is. what is called a live edge on the wood.

Cypress, yes is used for post and mantels etc.. a cypress wood beam can be large.

If a person has the money they can just about get any size they need.

15-20 minutes drive from home is Cannock Chase, a very large forest covering a vast area. It is one of those places you can walk for a very long time without meeting a single person. Cutting through the forest are many paths and diversions and, even with a good map, it is so easily to get lost. Thankfully we managed to navigate our way through the labyrinth of footpaths and trails using our GPS signal. At least in these parts, the mobile reception is pretty good!

The forest has somewhat a very spooky reputation with its many myths and legends, but most people do not take them seriously. The stories do however make a good camp-side fire tale as they certainly excite the imagination!

There are many places on high ground offering far reaching views for many miles.

And on a hot day such as today, the canopy of over-towering trees provides welcome relief and shade from the soaring heat.
