When friends come over to stay, I always take them over to Dudley, where there are many canals, and some very long canal tunnels (some of them a couple of miles long!). There is a museum where you can take a trip by canal into one of the caverns where there is a light and sound spectacular showcasing the story of the Industrial Revolution. As there are no towpaths in the tunnels or caverns, visitors have the opportunity to drive the boat by 'legging', which is to lie on one's back and "walk" the walls. As I'm always one to have a go, I had a chance to take part in the legging and they gave me a nice certificate!
It's about an hour from here. I've got my National Trust pass and have been planning to go over to Chirk to visit the castle and also see the aqueduct. Hopefully something to look forward to once the restrictions are over and the weather's a bit warmer!Are you near the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Llangollen Canal
