Yes, Charles Wesley. He was hiding in a ditch away from a mob that wanted to do him in when he wrote it.
That movie is one of my all time favorites; and it don't hurt that they sing some Christian tunes.
That's one way of getting your mind off your troubles; what concentration tho! Why was he hiding; the mob upset about his Sunday sermon?
