Maybe if you read the quote you would understand why it is impossible as I was referring to the point that there is no such thing as a 100% accurately translated text, but I am getting the idea you are very closed minded and really do not care.

This is what happens when instead of just discussing things rationally, logically and honestly, and staying focused on the topic at hand, you go into all this mind reading, second-guessing, assigning dark and sinister motives, slinging insults and making things personal.

In the future, I can guarantee that if you just discuss the topic at hand in a rational, logical and honest fashion, and forget about the personalities involved, all of us would have a much better time keeping up, and generally having a better discussion.

So, what do you say? Are you on board with that?

I've stayed focused on the topic at hand. Each time someone has changed the topic I've stayed focused on what it has been changed to. There's been 6 or 7 different topics (probably more) discussed in this thread. And you have been a party to many of them yourself.

Edit: Now I know why several people said to stay out of this area of the forums. That it is "their" domain.

Also, this is actually the only "safe haven" so to speak for people who disagree with Christianity in general.

I could have sworn we had already agreed that there is no such thing as word for word accurate translations of any languages let alone Biblical? Maybe I'm thinking of something else. No matter. The issue in regards to this is does the translation that is used convey the message of the original.

I don't believe it does. In that society the color green equated to death. In modern society death is often described as pale.

Again, no it doesn't. It wouldn't matter what colored horse the text said. It wouldn't even matter if it was translated that he was riding a horse or riding an ostrich.

The meaning, though not the exact words, would remain intact.

Topics change all the time around here, and I'll be the first to admit my own culpability in that. I said "topic at hand". My issue with you isn't the changing of topics, it is the issue of making things personal, hurling insults, mind reading, assigning evil motivations, and generally focusing on personal attacks rather than the topic at hand.

Out of deference to Christ I will agree to your request.

With two caveats.

1) I will NOT compromise what the Bible says for what people want to hear. For example I won't say that homosexual acts are condoned in the scripture.

2) I'm going to PM you each time someone launches a personal attack on myself so you can deal with it rather than me returning fire.

Are you on board?

Like I said to someone else, scripture interprets scripture. The church that uses that principle and adheres to and agrees with the results is going to be right. It's not a matter of which denomination is right or wrong. It's the willingness to look at what you are claiming, or teaching in light of the rest of the scriptures.

Honestly it doesn't bother me. I've had several years of experience in political forums so this is pretty easy to bear. I just notice how um... animated this area gets compared to "Christian Advice" or "Non-Denominational"

No one is asking you to compromise your beliefs. I wouldn't respect someone who did. But don't take it as a grievous offense or come unglued when people call your beliefs into question and critique them. That's all part of honest discussion. Nothing is off the table. Nothing is too sacred to be analyzed and scrutinized.

That's a bit unreasonable. How about you handle it yourself, and just PM the offender.
