• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"Well, I for one do not like Christians strutting around flaunting their superstitions and delusions. It's one thing to hold onto ridiculous beliefs, and quite another to be public and proud of being so dim."
In the interests of informed debate, members will not speak in a disrespectful way of The Christian God, The Trinity, or The Holy Scriptures (The Bible) . A similar respect is expected towards the faith and sacred texts of other religions.
Expressing disbelief in God is acceptable, referring to Him as a 'fairy tale' or 'mythical being' is not.

Side note then. In that case maybe some of the antiMuslim threads should be deleted in the Non-Christian religion section.
I got that from this forums guidelines. I didn't make it up, in case you thought I did .

The FACT is, however, that YOU have never seen God. You've only HEARD and READ about God from a book and have made a REAL being based SOLELY on what you've heard and read. While I realize that humans must have SOMETHING to cling to (probably even atheists) you simply cannot prove that the God of the Bible is actually anything MORE than a mythical being. Now can you?

So, until you CAN prove it you also have to accept the fact that others might reason out in their minds that 'someone' who is no more than a 'word' in a 'book' is therefore open to such terminology. What I feel is more a concern to you is that your own belief in God/the Bible is perhaps not on as solid a foundation as it might be. I would say the same thing to many Christians. This is why they become so defensive whenever anyone might question their 'faith'.

Guilty conscience about something? But anywho. A. I know you didn't make it up. And B. That has absolutely nothing to do with what I just posted.
What in the world would I have a guilty conscience about . I have no idea what you mean by that.
A. I did not know if you did or not, so I was just telling you.
B. I could not infer the tone of your post, so I couldn't tell how you meant it, but at any rate, I was just trying to clear things up.

They can disagree all they want, but the forum rules must be followed in these forums.

There are also rules against flaming other religions, which Christians on this forum violate on a regular basis. As well as personal flaming.

Ah, but if you use the Bible to abuse, insult, or flame someone, that makes it okay. Back it up with Scripture and you can get away with anything.

It's just possible I'm being sarcastic.

Until someone like the ACLU steps in and changes that.
As soon as you start restricting the internet, you go on a slippery slope toward eliminating the last(and first?) completely free forum for opinions in the world.
Best if we don't advocate the ACLU telling people what to do on the internet.

This sickens me, and it's exactly why I turned to atheism for a while, because I can not stand all of the judging that goes on within Christianity... But I came back as a Progressive Christian who supports all LGBT rights. Because there is a verse somewhere that says "Love thy neighbor" and also ones that say you should not judge, I'm sure.

You can adhere to that and still be an atheist.

What do you mean... Be an atheist and still not support LGBT rights? Yeah I know that... But perhaps I should have said it better, back when I turned to atheism I really thought that Christianity was as condemning of LGBT people as the fundamentalists make it out to be, but I realized that simply isn't true.

And also it really upset me because... well... I am a part of the LGBT. *becomes instantaneously hated by most of the people on here.* just kidding... I hope...
