  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What do you mean by "natural process"? You mean there is no blue print? No master plan? Let me ask you, what is the chance of someone building a boeing 747 without a plan or a blueprint?

yeah but then you have to say who made god, and who made the whatever that made god, and so on.

To a certain degree, yes, naturalistic processes could have made the universe. Of course, God could have made the universe. However, once you introduce God or the supernatural into science, it ceases to be science.

So do you mean that any assumption outside of science,[ The orgins of the universe is out side of Emperical science.]and void of God, is more closer to science, than an assumption outside of science,That trusts in a creator God,is actually farther away from science. And what gives someone the right to assume that for everybody else.

OneLargeToe, I have to wonder... "And if a god created the universe, then who created the god? Who created them? Meaningless? I don't know; it's lots of fun to speculate, don't you think?

The thing is, we're on a tiny speck in a universe so huge we cannot conceive of it's totality. We know nothing beyond the reach of our telescopes and our fingers. Yet people search for the beginning of the universe; they search for God; they search for meaning in their lives; they search for love. If this is all there is, this tiny spinning rock, why bother?

My take? Because there is more out there than we know, or can imagine. There is more inside us than we know. Our brains are mysteries. Where do memories go? How do we hold them? How can we recall some and not others? How can one person read or know another's thoughts? It's said we use only about 10% of our brain. I wonder what the other 90% can tell us... :)

Have a wonderful journey.

That's a great philosophical question, but has nothing to do with science and natural processes.

The reason people search for god is mostly cause they don't want to die, they want to live after they have died. They don't want to leave there family and there friends. So one day a groups of people came up with heaven and hell.

And you are completely right to think that we are the only live in the universe is crazy. We know that live can be anywhere look at our on planet. So if we are the only live in the universe what is the point of having other galaxies and stars and planets.

If there is no after life doesn't that take away all morals. If there is no after life then we have no standards by which to live because none of it really matters. Is this what you are saying.

If it were proven to you, beyond doubt, that there was no god and thusly no solid guide to morallity, would you go out and kill, rape, and maim people?
