EvolvEarth said:sweetkitty, following throughout this thread, it's pretty hard to get past that you're not a prejudiced person on homosexuality. After all, you compare homosexuality to pedophilia. There is something seriously wrong there if you consider something as unharmful as adult consented sodomy to something as harmful as persuading immature humans into having sex with them which could scar the kid in the future. You have no evidence to support that homosexuality is indeed harmful. Where's your compassion?

ocean said:First of all, I will answer your question. No, I don't think pedophilia should be legal, as it harms and infringes on the rights of the child.
There is no reson to keep gay marriage illegal, it does not harm anyone and it does not infringe on anyone's rights. Who cares if it's "biblically incorrect"? Laws sould not be based on an ancient religious text, the purpose of laws is to protect people form harm and to protect rights and freedoms.
Legalizing gay marriage does not harm anyone, and it does not infringe on anyone's rights, keeping it illegal does infringe on someones rights.
It is Christians who want special rights, not homosexuals. No one should have the right to force their religious beliefs on others.

1.) Christians want to influence society to keep its values more in harmony with Biblical ethics. This makes Christians intolerant and shows that they are forcing their morality down society's throats. This is BAD.
2.) Liberals want to influence society to change its values to harmonize with whatever today's Liberals think is right for today. This shows that Liberals are tolerant, because even though they are forcing their morality down society's throats, they're only doing it for our own good. This is GOOD.
Are we all clear?

We would like to be able to voice our religious beliefs without being called homophobes or bigots or hatemongers or whatever.
Furthermore,I frankly don't care if gays get married.
Mechanical Bliss said:Of course the Christian "influence" is one that denies rights to a group whose actions don't infringe on anyone else's rights so of course that's intolerant. The so-called "liberals" want ALL U.S. CITIZENS to have maximum individual freedom that ends for an individual when it infringes on the rights of another. That is good and is one of the cornerstone principles of this country.

homo = same, alike (from Greek)
phobe = one who fears (from Greek)
Homophobia = "fear of sameness"
(Advocates of homosexuality created the word "homophobe" to use as a slur against anyone who disagrees with them. They allege that it means "fear of homosexuals." They also allege that anyone who has any negative feelings towards homosexuality or homosexual acts is actually afraid, perhaps afraid that they themselves are homosexual.
Unfortunately, this bit of Pop Psychology has been swallowed hook, line, and sinker by the average American.)

Do you remember Achan and the sin he commited? You can read about it in Joshua chapter seven. It affected all of Israel, not just the one who commited the crime. There were thirty six men who died because of it, as well as Israels name (hence, Fathers name) being brought into reproach. "All" he did was steal a cloak and a piece of gold, that's "all". But it was contrary to his instructions.
Father is faithful and will judge all justly.
