Pointless vandalism in Nimrud City

It's nothing new, and not limited to Islam fanatics, but still sad to witness. I love going to historical sites and wander around and simply contemplate history. Nimrud City is now a no point of going place.

Boils my blood. This is our shared human heritage. These fanatics do not know how to create, or to build; they only know how to destroy. God forbid they ever get near Babylon. The sooner the Iraqi military and the Shia militias chase these barbarians out of Iraq, the safer our history will be.

I too love wandering around historical sites, the more ancient the better. I've been to Pompeii and Roman aqueducts in the South of France, but nothing quite approaching the age of Nimrod yet.
