Was salvation something immediate or was it gradual. Was there a specific moment where you knew the truth and knew you were saved?

Nobody really knows anything. Sure people will have inklings, feelings and thinkings. You'll just have to make a decision based on your own experiences.

It all depends on who you are and the circumstances in which your conversion takes place.

Dear sh284. Jesus tells us: " Unless ye believe as children ye will not enter God`s Kingdom." Simple and straightforward, if you want to be saved from the world`s evil and sad consequences, ask God for your Salvation. God will save us, but we must ask and really want it. Always remember that God knows our hearts, God can see all our thoughts and wishes, but God will never force us, that is why we must ask Him. As soon as you ask God sincerely, He will save you. God is our Heavenly Father, He made us in His image, we can think and reason, and we know what is Good, and what is Not Good. Being God`s children, also means that we can pray and ask any time we want to. God also gave us His 10 Commandments, and Jesus made it easy for us to understand. Jesus gave us 2 Commandments, they say all what God tells us in His 10 Commandments. 1) Love God with all our hearts, with all our souls, and with all our minds. 2) Love our neighbour as ourselves. ( all we know and all we meet) Start by treating all as you would love to be treated, and God will see your sincere efforts and will approve, and bless you. Jesus will give you His Love and Joy, and the Holy Spirit will give you His Love, too. We thank God then, and share all Love and Joy with our neighbour. You will have God`s Salvation and His Love, sh284. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

1 Corinthians 2 tells us that the unbelieving had not been regenerated and are unable to understand the things of God, having not been born of the Spirit. A sign of salvation is to read the scriptures and have an understanding of them you've never had before.

Also, John writes in 1 John that he wrote that so we may "KNOW" we have eternal life. These are seven things he highlights a attributes, or fruits, of someone who has been regenerated. I'm not going to tell you what they are, because it's more beneficial for you to search them out for yourself (it's only a 5 chapter book).

Jesus also highlights the attributes of a believer in what is known as the Beatitudes.

In these scriptures, you can find what a true believer actually is, as opposed to a christian in name only.

I can only tell you that I was saved immediately only decades after I was water Baptised. It took that long for me to get to the point where I could hand over everything I am and have to Jesus Christ and put him in control of my life. I'm sure it's much faster for others just like I'm sure some never make it. I had to get to the point where I finally figured out that I was incapable of running my life and only Jesus could save me. Until that moment I was a Christian in Name Only.

It's not that it was gradual, but that it is gradual. Salvation incorporates the entirety of life up and until the resurrection of the dead. Salvation is our immersion into the life of God, into the life of Christ and the Spirit, not only our justification, but the process of sanctification or theosis--our being conformed to the image and likeness of God by our union with Christ, our sharing in the life and fellowship of God with ultimate hope in the resurrection and glorification of the body and the total liberation from death and the restoration of all creation.
