But it was our ninth planet: as in 9 of 9.
How many men on a baseball team? nine?
Then who are those guys in the dugout? reporters?
9 is a square number.
My birthday is Sept 9 (9/9).
The Beatles have a song called Revolution 9.
If you take any multi-digit multiple of 9 and keep adding all the digits together until you're left with one digit, it will always be 9.
There's also 9 members of Girls' Generation, whom my signature references in Korean*
Aaaaanyway. The claim that Pluto is still a planet has some slight merit by the same reasoning that a motorsport is still a sport or a doghouse is still a house. Scientifically speaking it's not
just a planet, it's a
dwarf planet, which, colloquially speaking still means it's kind of a planet.
Problem is, there are many other objects in the solar system that are
dwarf planets, and would likewise need to be included as
just planets if Pluto were also considered
just a planet. Haumea, Makemake, Ceres, and Eris (which is actually bigger than Pluto) would need to also be included as planets if Pluto were to fit the definition of a planet. This would make the number of planets in our solar system at least 13.. "at least" being part of the number.
So, the number is 8. 8 is also a nice number.
So, as for the number 9? To plagiarize the OP, "Number 9 can take a hike."
*Recently, Jessica has left the group, bringing the number of members down to 8. I'm still getting used to that.
