Ok im asking ya'll and im then going to call the doc. Trevor has been constipated bad for about 2-3 days now. What do i do for that? Also he has been spitting up A LOT more than usual. Is that normal. At church i had to change his outfit twice b/c of spit up all the way down his front

We gave DS prune juice mixed with his formula. I know it's not the best tasting stuff, but neither is formula. I think apple juice would do the trick too.

Yeah - when my daughter was little she was constipated a lot - good ol' prune juice - or if they are old enough - baby food prunes - worked wonders. We ended up giving her some prunes with 1 or 2 meals. Now - she has no problems.

As for the spitting up? I mean - my daughter did spit up a lot...but that was her. If it is unusual for your little one to spit up this much - I'd call the doc.

I agree with the idea of juice. As far as spitting up, if he is constipated, his tummy probably doesn't feel very good, so if you relieve the constipation, the spitting up may get fixed in the process.

Sounds normal, he's pretty young.... formula has iron which is constipating. My doctor told me to give David an additional bottle of water. If he has started solids, cut out some of the cereal for a while and give more formula (cereal is even more constipating).... if you call and get the okay from your doctor/nurse you could also feed water mixed with some prune juice.

All the ideas about prune juice and/or water are right on the money...I did that with Andie & it helped ALOT...(just watch how *much* prune juice you give him, though! YIKES!! lol)

Also, when Andie was first born she went like 3 days without a bowel movement, I was convinced something was terribly wrong, but her pediatrician said unless it gets up to 5 days without one, it's pretty much normal...

Just chiming in. Our doctor said pruine juice in the bottle too (and it works well!). It never took much for us. maybe 2 tablespoons in a 8 ounce bottle. He did tell us no water though (they need the calories from formula and the water would fill up their tummy's).

Everthin said it right on the money, I don't have any idea so if you've told folks an I jes hadn't seen it, do you BF? Formula folks seem to have this problem alot, but I'd be a bit more concerned if this was happin an ya was BF.

Nother thin works real good for horses an people alike is to get em into some water, submerge their bellies an take some of the weight, specific gravity, off of em an that'll help wit movements as well.... mind you it can git a bit messy though. I'd suspect some of that spit up might be from jes bein to full from head to toe also hehe

Lilly was constipated the first week we had her home...it was awful..the doc rec. to us one ounce of prune juice mixed with one ounce of water or we could use one table spoon of kyro syrup and one ounce of water(mixed together)...per our pediatrition. The prune juice worked so well and lucky for us she loves prune juice! She has been constipated once since then and my mom got her some prune juice mixed with apple juice...we did the same with that...ounce of water..ounce of juice. As for spit up...if he is really cranky usually after feedings and spits up bad when he is laying flat on his back..maybe you should have him checked for acid reflux..Lilly got put on rigilin and zantac a while back and it has worked wonders!!! I can actually put her to bed after feedings!!!

The formula used to make my kids constipated. I had to get the one without iron. I think the prune juice idea sounds good. Is he uncomfortable? Prepare for a very messy diaper.

Go easy on the prune juice if you decide to give it to him. I'd dilute it with water or if he doesn't take that, then in the formula. I made the mistake with my firstborn and gave it to him straight from the bottle. He loved it! We also paid the price later on.

Oh I forgot...powdered formula was behind the constipation. We had to switch to the ready mix...and then to concentrate(saves money).
