It might be something that the District is proposing at their convention? Then if it passes there, try to submit the proposal at Synod? If you hear more about it, let us know.

I think they're lumping all Lutherans in with the ELCA. My mother told me that they were indeed going ahead with ordaining openly homosexual clergy, so someone must have made an error in their reporting, Ron.

You need to call the station and ask them to verify what they reported and make a statement of retraction once they confirm it's not true and in no way applies to the LCMS. At least I would.

Well, just when one thinks things can't get any worse...

I heard on the news yesterday that LCMS is going to put the ordination and leadership involvement of homosexuals up to vote of the laity. My greatest fears of Ablaze have come true. LCMS is going the same direction ELCA went. It's a pity really, but there it is.

If that is in fact the case, without our LCMS brothers and sisters LCC is going to be very lonely indeed.

Obviously they have confused the LCMS and the ELCA. I can assure you that no such vote is being considered in the LCMS. The ELCA's sexuality task force report was released last week. I'm sure that is what they were referring to.

Perhaps the LCC would be willing to have a non-geopraphic district with congregations in the US, as the LCMS does in Canada, if such a thing were to ever occur.

It has to be news about ELCA. There are a lot of news reports in the past couple days about it.

Here's a news release from the ELCA Web site which contains a snippet of an LCMS response:

The Rev. Matthew C. Harrison, executive director for LCMS World Relief and Human Care, issued a statement in response to the ELCA task force documents.
"To say that we are disappointed in the task force proposals would be a vast understatement. But we are not surprised," he said. "The LCMS position on homosexuality is that of the Bible and the church catholic from the very beginning."
Harrison noted that there's a "great deal of interaction and partnership" between the LCMS and ELCA, but he said the task of maintaining that relationship was "becoming even more complex."
