I worked in a youth treatment centre for 7 years. Now I've been teaching in a behaviour classroom for 6. Before that I did social working primarily with youth for several years.
I have worked with a LOT of kids with antisocial tendencies and unhealthy communication strategies and techniques.
The only thing that almost every truly misanthropic kid had in common is that they'd say terrible things to people. And when you called them on their inappropriate joke, they got upset..." Man...can't you tell i'm joking? You're such a @#&#@%*%#@? You guys are so dumb"
Primarily, their problem is that folks don't understand that inappropriate or mean jokes between friends occur because there is a level of trust and affection between those two people. If those things are not there, mean jokes are actually, just mean. There's nothing really redeemable about the joke.
This joke reminds me EXACTLY of something I'd have heard during my days at hte treatment centre for sure...though perhaps with less innuendo.
