  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Please help

They even have more marital problems then the rest of us do, what of that? They drink and do drugs, kill and covet. They are no different."

First off welcome to CF,

and yes, carnal Christians do these things because they are under the power of the old Sin nature, when we become born again and saved we still have the choice to operate in that nature, however there is a big difference between carnal Christians and Christians living in the power of the Spirit, basically we operate in power of weakness when under the power of the old man (old sin nature) this is the same as any unbeleiver, and in power of strength when under the power of the spirit. (this is only available to born again beleivers)

The Christian walk is not about making that drastic change over night, yes we fall, but everytime we do we have the choice to rebound and recover;
1Jo 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

It is this that is the difference, when we do this we enter back into fellowship with God which allows us to move forward in his plan, this is a lifelong journey.

Hope this answers your question.

Well the first thing to take into concideration is that God sets up the appointment for the unbeleiver, and we are to be a wittness to what we beleive, be ready in season and out of season, the person who is an unbeleiver needs to see the point that they need a savior, otherwise they will not except the gift of salvation.

Prepare yourself by mastering the foundational doctrines, this is really the first step to becoming a wittness.

Explain that there is a gap between God and Man, that no man can fix, but God so loved the world that he did this himself for all mankind, Christ is the bridge that brings man back to God, and through Christs substitutionary death on the cross has removed Gods judgment on man, so he can deal with man how he pleases, but not as a judge to condem us, but as a loving father, by excepting Christ as their subsitute, they can open up the power of God to work in their life too, and be the recipients of his Grace in time and eternity.

It is a free gift from God to all man, but it is our decision whether we except this or not.

1) Not all people who claim to be Christian really ARE (or even have a clue what it means)
2) We shouldn't judge the effectiveness of Christianity by how a Christian acts, beause we have no way of knowing how much WORSE they might be if they weren't Christian.

Hi sillyhuman,

I think one falsehood that people believe is that christians think they're better than anyone else.

We are given to temptation as is every one. We won't be perfected until we're with God in heaven.

Sure, we make mistakes, but we're as human as the next person.

The big difference is we're forgiven.

When you accept Christ as saviour, you
become a forgiven child of God.

I don't know if this helps or not. I hope it does a little.

By the way,

Welcome, i hope i can be of service to you in the days ahead, as we all do.

Chuck.

I'd say to the non-Christian, that the true judge is God himself. Only He can see the heart of that Christian out there that is swearing, stealing, doing drugs, etc...He is the righteous judge, and though we as humans may see that what they are doing is morally wrong, only he can see the whole entire picture of a person's life, and He will judge fairly when the time is right. He extends grace first, before judgement. Remind the unbeliever, that he or she is held accountable only for the decisions they make, not for someone else's life.

I know a lot of Christians that are not as you describe. I would say they are going to a church that has faulty doctrines. "Ye shall know them by their fruits."
