Can anyone help? I am a teen. My Grandmother of whom I was very close to died about 4 years ago. Only the thing is I still haven't really come to terms with it.The thing is when she died I I ended up due to circumstances an awful amout of high school. Therefore I missed pretty much all of my religious education and therefore I don't really understand where she's gone.
I have a question I was wondering whether anyone out there could possibly help me with. This is: what does The Bible/Christianity say that Heaven is like? What does it look like? (are there any descriptions) and what happens up there??
Also I hope this doesn't sound like a stupid question (only I just wondered because I missed such a lot of school) but do they give a good all-round general education in Religion in High schools??
What sort of things about religion do they teach you in England?
CAN ANYONE POSSIBLY HELP?????

While I don't know much of heaven myself(come on, I've never been there...) I can say that I am praying for you-- while I don't know what all you're going through(since I'm not you) I do realize it has to be hard. I'm here if you want someone to talk to--I can listen and offer help when asked, but at this point all I can say is I am praying for you, and your grandmother and family. God Bless, Celina pm me if you want to talk.

hmm... heaven.

i cannot tell you where to look in hte Bible for a physical description of heaven, but i imagine that it is a pretty cool place. i mean, God created an earth with some pretty beautiful things so i bet He did some pretty amazing things in heaven.... even better

i have personally never been there, so i cannot give you like the entire layout of the place, but i bet it is a place free of hate and suffering. a place where only love, acceptance, and understanding prevail. i believe that God intended for earth to be hate-free, but sin entered the world, so i think that heaven is a place free of all of the worldly issues.

i am praying for you.... just know that your grandmother is in a better place. we are not meant to understand everything that God does, maybe heaven i sone of those things... like a special treat for when we finish our earthly duties. I mean, i bet your grandmother is up there enjoying herself, doing the things she loves to do. just pray for understanding and peace of heart. :prayer:
feel free to PM me if you ever need anything.

Jesus often talked about people being asleep when they were dead

John11:11,13-14
Yeshua said these things, and afterwards he said to the talmidim, "Our friend El,azar (lazerus) has gone to sleep; but I am going in order to wake him up.".....Now Yeshua had used the phrase to speak about El'azar's death, but they thought he had been literally talking about sleep. So Yeshua told them in plain language "El'azar has died.

From what we can tell from what Jesus said and Jewish cultral tradition is that when a person dies their body dies but their soul becomes unconscious until to fulfillment of God's kingdom. When Jesus returns the individuals of this world will be judged by their hearts and relationship with God.

Read Revalation 21! It has lovely descriptions of heaven. Personally, I can't wait to see it!

Here are the passages she mentioned from Revelations (I got them from the NIV so that you can understand them easier):

...3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."....

...11It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. 12It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. 13There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. 14The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

15The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls. 16The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia[a]in length, and as wide and high as it is long. 17He measured its wall and it was 144 cubits thick,[c] by man's measurement, which the angel was using. 18The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. 19The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, 20the fifth sardonyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.[d] 21The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass.

22I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. 25On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. 26The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. 27Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life....

Pretty much as I figure it Heaven is prettier than the most beautiful place you can think of.

John 14

Jesus, the Way to the Father

“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. 2 There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? 3 When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.”

I would like to share a memory I have of my grandmother, if you would like to hear it.

My grandmother was given a dream of being with God. She said in her dream there was this wonderful water, that when you washed in it, you came out beautiful. Your skin was a beautiful amber glow. And everyone was beautiful.

She said you could walk and talk with God. For he walked and talked with her.

She said when she saw me there, I was riding on the most beautiful white horse she had ever seen. More lustrious white than our eye have ever seen. And that when we rode it was as if we were meant for each other.

I wish I still had the letter she wrote for me. She described in detail everything she saw. It wasnt much later that she too passed away. This is one of my favorite memories. She had written a letter for each one of us kids.

My brother as well had a dream of being with God. His is an amazing story because when he was five years old he was in a near fatal car crash. When their car was pushed over a mountain, my brother said he saw the hand of God reach out and hold them up. Keeping them from crashing to the bottom.

He went to God, in what we may call heaven. All I know is a five year old boy saw God, and talked with him. He said God talked with him and even ruffled his hair, lol. One of the things he saw was pillars, but they had no roof. And that the grass, and leaves, and flowers were very beautiful. They were so pure that they could be seen thru, yet had shape and color.

Now my little brother was shown his family. And how sad we would be if he left us. So he gave my brother a choice to return or stay. He wanted to stay with God, but also wanted his family not to be sad. So he chose to go back. He said God was pleased with him, and said he had much for him to do. And he returned.

Then at five years old he climbed out of the car, and climbed the mountain to get help for his grandmother and grandfather. And God saved them all.

These are just second hand recollections and I wish my brother could tell you the story himself.

What I have read in scriptures, it seems to me, even before the resurrection of the dead, we go to be with God. Even if that is a place called rest. Because if you read in Genesis and in Hebrews it says:

"On the seventh day, having finished his task, God rested from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from his work of creation."

and the Hebrews say: "This new place of rest was not the land of Canaan, where Joshua led them. If it had been, God would not have spoken later about another day of rest. So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. For all who enter into God's rest will find rest from their labors, just as God rested after creating the world. Let us do our best to enter that place of rest." 4:8-11

(And I believe we go to that place of rest. One example of a person told he would enter that place is Daniel 12:13 "As for you, go your way until the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days, you will rise again to receive the inheritance set aside for you.")

Another place speaks of a parable of Lazarus, who in his lifetime had nothing, and the rich man had everything. And then Lazarus was taken to Abraham Bosom, where he was comforted.

We also are given promises in scriptures like: "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light." Matthew 11:28-30

This can be seen here as well as the place of rest. Jesus showed us thru the things he did what rest meant. I never understood this until one night I had prayed for rest. And he healed the problem, instead of giving me what I thought, a rest period.

Jesus did this even while he was on earth in the flesh. He healed on the Sabbath day, the day of rest. Because he is Lord of the Sabbath. And he gives perfect rest.

So rest to me, also means healing. Taking away pain, sickness, sorrow. He gives rest to the part of you that needs it most, your soul.

I guess that is all I will write, unless you want more. I did see someone else gave you the wonderful verse from Revelation. I always like the part that said the streets are paved with gold, and the gates made of gems and pearl. These are wonderful things we have reference of in scriptures. Like gold being the symbol for wisdom. Or rubies for virtue.

To me that is just beautiful, to think of being surrounded by things like righteousness (Job 1:10 10Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

and Ezekiel 14:13-20 speaks of the righteousness of Daniel, Noah, and Job, that people like these once saved others by their righteousness (like a wall protecting them).

I cant wait to be in a place that sacred and holy.

God Bless

What is heaven like? Well, we can know in part. A book called, 90 Minutes in Heaven is awesome!! The Bible describes heaven somewhat. I will explain it - but earthly man will never be able to fully comprehend it - its impossible. Even people who have died and came back can't - like in the 90 minutes book. This man was clinically dead no doubt- you can find this book at borders.

I will mention some aspects of it - there is intense light that out shines the sun- this is Gods light. Heaven is more real concerning our senses than earth. There is overflowing love, joy, and peace; your senses like hearing, seeing, touching and the sense if taste is very acute. Endless colors exist that arn't on earth that are undescribable. There is no time and distance there - its not finite but infinite - not limited to the physical laws at all - there is none! The worship of God is continuous and it includes heavenly music never heard to man - so beautiful one can't describe. God is continously worshipped by angels, and the redeemed.

Your deceased love one - has it made!!!!!! This earth is like a trash can compared to heaven. And if one has the Holy Spirit in their life - they have a taste of that love, joy, and peace in their spirit that overflows.

Revelation 21 describes the new jerusuleam - gates of pearl...

Also, read Examine the Evidence by Muncaster. This author went from an athiest to a christian. It mentions the overwhelming evidence of the Bible - history and facts. ****Why am I mentioning this here? Because heaven is real - its not just some religious belief - it really exists. If people wanted to come to God by intellect - everyone would be racing to christianity; but its a spiritual decision and God won't force people. He wants free will worshippers and love Him in Spirit and in truth.
