Playstation 2 question

I got a playstation 2 for christmas. I had a playstation before. My question is do you need a different memory card for playstation 2 or can you use a memory card from playstation. I tried using my playstation memory card in my playstation 2 and it says there isn't one inserted. Can someone help?

To save data from playstation 2 games you will need a playstation 2 memory card. However if you wanna save data from a psone game on your ps2 you will use your psone card.

Thanks I was thinking that was a problem. I will have to get a PS2 memory card then. I guess that is why some people like xboxes
