  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What a lovely attitude

It is the wide path to find evil in everyone. It takes a lot more strength to treat people with respect even if they haven't "earned" it.

Because who among us truly "deserves" respect? We are all fallen and fall far short of the glory. If it's good enough for God to be nice to each other even when we don't deserve it, then shouldn't it be good enough for us?

We are talking about two different situations:

Someone attacked me. I don't really care. I can even smile. The worst is that I don't talk to the guy any more.

Someone attacked the Lord, I would like to fight him at the first chance.
Many people insulted the Lord at his first post. I either ignore him if the attack is too childish, or rebuke (include humiliate, insult) him with no mercy. (I do understand what Peter was doing. He did that at the wrong time. I don't think the Lord will call any of His follower satan any more).
