Last week I finished looking at the claim that Hastings was the source for Great Controversy--nothing was found.

I also started looking to the claim that Uriah Smith was the source for the same book--nothing more than snippets, Bible texts and quotes has been found so far.

Sounds interesting... so you have definite proof that Hastings wasnt the source...

let me ask you, how many versions of the great controversy have been written? I mean is the book that we can buy today the same as was the first edition or has it been altered? which versions did you cross referece?

>what mattered more to me were things like failed prophecies and inconsistencies within her writings...

I've looked at that a bit and found that those held up about as well as the plagiarism claim--and when they lie to you on the simple stuff, why should you trust their "analysis" and "research" on the more complex?

Yeah right!!! ;)

no seriously, look at it a bit longer! or how can you explain that food for worm prophecy in regard to how history played out in the end...

If a bunch of people get an idea at the around the same time and write it to someone, and then those writingws are compared, it's pretty sure that pretty much the same wording would come about. For example--I thought I was the only one who came up with the idea that people in the pre-flood days were enormously intelligent, and could easily have been into the practice of experimenting with mixing human DNA with animal DNA as is being done today. I wrote that to several people. Well, I have since found a whole bunch of people all saying the same thing. Is it plaqgerism?? If God chooses to give inspiration to several people, it seems like they would sound pretty similar. as in the writings of the Bible. Matthew, Mark,Luke, John,--they sound pretty much the same to me--with some variations--And, seeing that they all pretty much saw the same things, why wouldn't they? Nobody jumps up and down and screams plagerism!! We are creatures who use our brains, those brains have read a lot---a whole lot (maybe not so much anymore!)--but we make our minds up about who we are, what we stand for, what we believe in, largely by what we've been exposed to. It's the same with music--we've a brain that collects info--and it's not surprising that so many people can say, write, think and play music that sounds like someone elses. So, somebody takes two books, about the same subject and finds over 1000 words that are similar---well, la--dee--da--what's so surprising about that????I've gotten a letter from friends saying almost word for word the same thing that I had been thinking!! Well, we're reading the same books, looking at the same tv channels, going to the same church and talking to pretty much the same people---and it surprises people that we sound alike??!!! My brother AND i USED TO TALK IN SUCH A WAY THAT NOBODY EVER FINISHED A COMPLETE SENTENCE AS THE OTHER PERSON ALREADY KNEW WHAT THE other meant and was already answering and it came out sounding like some sort of cryptic language to others who were listening to us. We had no idea we did that, but it was plain to others.God gives lots of people the same inspirations and each writes their thoughts down according to their own personality--but if it's the same info--it's gonna sound pretty similar.

Great example with the four gospel writers of this plagerism thing being a non starter!

>no seriously, look at it a bit longer!

I've done more work on this particular subject than all of the critics from Canright to the present. Even when I tell the critics "Here's how you can check one of the 212 lies and find the truth in abut 5 minutes", not a single one has done it.

The critics have lied about Ellen G. White 212 times now--how much longer does it take to wake up and realize when you are being lied to?
